Hi, If you do a search for Las Vegas on this board, you will find loads of info....including lots of links posted by me.

Its just easier to read through the existing threads to get a better idea, than repost all the info, but if you have any more questions, then feel free to ask.

we can ( and i have on other threads ) debate a lot on which is the best hotel/ casino to stay at. Your budget is of course the main factor. i,ll just say New York New York Casino has set a very high standard for my vist this year.

May is a Good time IMO as it is outside of main holidays and not too hot. we went in May last year and it is Hot (30-32 C) but not so much that it was overpowering. Also some good Bargins to be had at this time of year with flights. look for the tips on the 2nd link.

My Big tip for your son and daughter is get a Photo driving liscense to take with you to carry around with you. They will certainly get asked for ID espcially if Booze is in your plans ( Even just ordering with dinner). i also sugest you do the same as everyone below 70 gets asked it seems :rotfl: :rotfl: . your passport will do but you don,t want lose it.

A Grand Canyon Helicopter tour really is a Must ( budget permitting) . i Also very much enjoyed Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay , Secret garden at the Mirage, and The Grand Canal in the Venetian.
Best free show is with out a doubt the Water ballet at the Bellagio. but the Volcano at the Mirage and the renamed Sirens of Treasure Island are worth checking out too.

Money Saving Tips . Don,t buy any tickets for resident shows until you get there . they Rarely sell out and you can get Half price tickets the day you want to see a show at https://www.tix4tonight.com
or https://www.tickets2nite.com . you won,t the really big shows on sale there but you might very well see something you like.
Pick up a free copy of "whats on" or similar free magazine from your hotel lobby or a taxi . they are crammed with vouchers and offers for loads of stuff

Duece bus service is best method of Travel $5 for a all day pass

Shopping at the Outlet mall on the Nevada , California border is a great for some real bargains. get the bus from MGM grand

Food: all the Casino have a all you can eat Buffet . Mandalay bay MGM grand Mirage and Rio buffet were all great.

    hope this helps
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

I went in May this year and the weather was lovely if not a bit too hot at times!! I have been to Vegas a few times and the best place I have stayed is the MGM Grand - we got a really good deal through Expedia. It's worth checking as most of the main hotels on the strip have deals on at some point.
When we went we were trying to do it on a budget which a lot of people think isn't possible in Vegas but it definately is!! You could spend a good few days just visiting all the hotels along the strip as most of them have shopping malls, loads of bars and restaurants and other attractions eg the lions at the MGM or the white tigers at the Mirage.
The half price ticket booths dotted along the strip are also good for getting last minute discounted tickets to the shows.
    Enjoy!!! :D

2p off is still 2p off!

    TOP UNMISSABLE VEGAS:

    1. Cirque du Soleil shows

    2. Ride to top of Stratosphere

    3. Buffets (rec. Bellagio, Wyn & Rio)

    4. Lightshow downtown - Fremond St Experience

    5. Ride on "The Deuce" (bus that goes up & down Strip)

    6. Bellagio dancing fountains

    7. Have a Flutter (if you're not a big gambler- do what I did, go on the 25c or 10c machines and set a limit -i.e. $5)

    8. The Strip itself - spend loadsa time walking up and down, exploring the different-themed hotels

    9. Shopping - Las Vegas Outlet mall (take minibus there), Showcase mall, Caesar's Palace

there are dozens more - this is just what i can think of now!
Profit from Matched Betting = £13,655

I was there last week and had a great time. If you can afford it, take a helicopter trip to the Canyon - expensive but worth it. I went with Sundance helicopters, but there are plenty of other operators. I also did a road trip to the Hoover dam which was interesting.
  • does anyone have any recommendations on best time to book flights? is there a window when flights are at their best price? and same with hotels.
All info so far has been really helpful, Thanks everyone
  • Hi Jenny

Fine if you're going to see the boxing but if you're not (the OP I mean) then avoid going there when it clashes with a big fight as the hotels will be very expensive.
Same goes for major conventions, check when they are and avoid clashing.
