Im looking to go to vegas in May 07, ive used expedia and found flights and 7 nights for £565, the hotel doesn't get great reviews but its the cheapest and thats what I want. Does anybody know of a cheaper way to stay in vegas, caravan, camping, etc? Im looking for the cheapest possible.
Cheers

whats the Hotel ????
there are loads of motels ect that are cheap if you stay off the strip . this is probably the cheapest. camping , not that i have heard of besides it,s gonna be hot hot hot ( we went in may mid 30,s everyday !!!!) .
avoid weekends if you can as prices tend to at least double then.
£565 is really cheap for 7 nights i doubt you will cut anything sizable off it without sleeping rough lolBetter in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
Flights for 7 nights in May SHOULD cost around the £350 mark. Don't pay any more than that!! You may need to wait a couple more months for the price to drop. Try flying out on a Wed/Thurs and coming back then. Northwest, from Gatwick via Minneapolis seem to be quite cheap at the moment.
Hotels - For a fairly decent stay, Motel 6 Tropicana can be got for £16/night through aplharooms/hotelopia/lastminute0 -
Hi
Thanks for the replies, would it be cheaper to buy flights and hotel as a package or book them seperately? Also am I best booking as early as possible or will the price drop if I book last minute. Im flying out to watch the boxing and am a bit worried everywhere will full quite quickly.
Cheers

There is always something BIG going on in Vegas . Boxing ( dela hoya was fighting while i was there ) a convention, a concert ect. i would consider which set is likely to attend the event the well to do , or the less flush like yourself ???
Most of the strip hotels do reach about 90% capicty at weekends ( a impressive feat given that 8 of 10 largest hotels in the World are on the strip).
i don,t who is fighting but when Dela Hoya was on there where a lot of mexicans around who by looking at them were probably were not able to stay in the big expensive Strip hotels so were probably in places like Motel 6. something to consider
i doubt Motel 6 will drop much below that so get a room while you can to save maybe having to find more expensive should it be fully booked up. Motel 6 looked Okay when i passed it and is near the Crossroads of the world area ( intersection with MGM grand , NYNY, Exacillber and Tropicanna on)
is the fight at the MGM grand.( a lot are )
as for booking them together you will have to do some hunting and homework to see what comes out cheapest.a non direct flight might well be Cheapest. ( but it will take it out of you) try finding the cheapest flight first ( using tips on the main forum) and then seing what they can offer you in terms of hotels . then see if you better it by booking seperate.
as for last minute it is a risk that might not pay off .

Wow cheers Trets
The kindness of the people on this forum is immense, if the world was like this site it wud actually be a nice place to live in:laugh:
Its a De La Hoya fight im going to see v Floyd Mayweather its gonna be the biggest fight thats been for the 20yrs or so, so Im guesing everywhere will be full quickly, so I guess the earlier the better. I cudn't find Motel 6 Tropicana through the webistes Unitedflyer suggested possibly booked up already. The places that have seemed the cheapest are Circus Circus, Four Queens,Plaza, Fitzgeralds, Stratosphere, do you know anything about them? There are motels which are keep as well, but for an extra £10 Id rather stay in a theme hotel n get the experience.
Thanks again,
Baz0 -
a good move if i may say so .extra £10 may get you a lot more comfort / experiance if your budget can stretch.
i,ll give you the league position of each one according to tripadvisor as well i like tripadvisor but i always take what is says with a pinch of salt as it can be misleading ( hell i,ve seen the Bellagio get one star for heavens sake !!) but it can come up trumps big style.
also a good purchase is the Rough Guide travel book . i have this one which is a tiny bit out of date now ( Vegas moves on fast) but still a hell of a good buy for 44p !!!!! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rough-Guide-Las-Vegas-Miniguides/dp/1858288908/sr=8-4/qid=1163700872/ref=sr_1_4/202-5432136-9662260?ie=UTF8&s=books. a sound investment !!!!!!
okay CIRCUS CIRCUS is bargin bucket and worse looks it but worse of all caters for the one group all the others won't........... KIDS !! sounds cruel i know but Vegas is a Adult resort end of storysteer clear unless it is lots cheaper than the others. also rates the worst of pretty much any hotel on the strip and very low 114th of 235. my best experiance in there was the free circus show evry 15 mins but i would not stay there myself when you can do better cheaper http://las-vegas-hotels.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g45963-d91770-Reviews-Circus_Circus_Hotel_Casino_Las_Vegas-Las_Vegas_Nevada.html
Stratosphere is a mixed bag IMO. it is right at the top end of the strip so you need to travel if you need to get down to the strip and are a little ways from the real action. that said it is clean has WOW factor ( see it from just everywhere in vegas) and has to work hard with pricing and attractions to lure people up there. you could do a lot worse but i expect it will be nearer the top of list for prices that you gave me. still one i would consider   Tripadvisor gives it 58th out of 235 above Mandalay Bay which i totally loved and might go to when i go back !!!http://las-vegas-hotels.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g45963-d114898-Reviews-Stratosphere_Hotel_Casino_and_Tower-Las_Vegas_Nevada.html
Fitzgeralds is in Freemont street which is best described as the Real Las Vegas or the Old las Vegas and is a mile or so away from the strip. it is a close knit collection of the more independant casinos ( rough guide will expalin all) i only breifly stepped in this casino so cannot give you much of opinion but look quite fun. you certainly will be in the heart of old las vegas which although not quite as good as the strip is certainly not without it,s charm and fun.if you are prepared to stay off strip ( hell you easily get to the strip!!!) then freemont street might just be the ideal solution. they certianlly are competively priced compared to BIG strip hotels tripadvisor also gives this one a good score 67th out 235. not bad at all . definatly consider http://las-vegas-hotels.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g45963-d91679-Reviews-Fitzgeralds_Casino_Hotel-Las_Vegas_Nevada.html
but check out some others on the ratings list as well to decide
Ditto FOUR QUEENS but trip advisor gives a slightly lower score 89th of 235. http://las-vegas-hotels.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g45963-d91816-Reviews-Four_Queens_Hotel_and_Casino-Las_Vegas_Nevada.html
i honestly cannot remember the PLAZA and i,m not sure where it is from the address . it also rates poorly compared to the Freemont street hotels 112th of 235 so i would say you would be better with above 2 .http://las-vegas-hotels.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g45963-d97815-Reviews-Plaza_Hotel_Casino-Las_Vegas_Nevada.html
if you HAVE to stay on the strip this looks your best bet on a budget BARBARY COAST
http://las-vegas-hotels.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g45963-d91700-Reviews-Barbary_Coast_Hotel-Las_Vegas_Nevada.html and as i remember it is right smack in the middle !!!! looked totally okay from what i saw in the casino ( i won $40 on a slot here so i might be a bit high on the place but it ranks 11th !!!!!)
here is the full tripadvisor list anyhow . it is also good as it tell you room rates and as so many people review Vegas is likely to be bit more accurate than say a small town. Motel 6 is also on this list . cross ref ones you like the look of with some of the forums and advice sites in my 1st post

i went in a lot of the hotels on and off the strip so post to know what my impression wasBetter in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -

The BC has recently been bought by Harrah's and there is some doubt as to whether it will be open in May 07 unfortunately.
ps. Its good to see my links are being helpful on this thread too, thanks for posting again Trets77.0 -
yeah no probs some real good stuff there. i have them stored in my browser favs for easy ref.
shame about Barbary Coast ,but i think OP will go for cheaper option anyway, i was just surprised it rated THAT high , but you have to take value and location into account .Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:0 -
Lucky old you LV in May... not that hot you cant enjoy the strip... that said if you are willing to take a chance book a hotel for the 1st night then negotiate hotels always doing cheap rooms on the day... we are lucky enough to have family a couple of miles outta town but always do a couple of nights in a cool hotel booking the day in question and saving a pile:beer:
Check out Las Vegas motorspeedway they do ride alongs in a 2 seater indy car for approx £75 not the £1000s that it would cost to do the same in a formula 1 car... soooo cool and scary!!!!!!Bit of a Florida Fan :j
