    Who was your booking with?

MyTravel / airtours. Same flight, near enough same web booking, occasionally different prices and hotels. Went for the fly drive and got a decent hotel rather than the usual crud on offer
  • The cheapest Id found was a hotel and flight package staying at Stratosphere for 2 people for £1002, now doing it seperately and looking at flights with airtours the price is £775, thats a nice £225 saving

As long as the dates you are going are outside the school holidays and I'm really thinking the May Day week and the whit week I would wait until a lot closer to the time before booking. Keep a fairly regualr eye on what hotels the two sites have left. Only think about booking when the sites are down to a few hotels and drive drive offers. Prices will be at the lowest then.

Im looking to go to vegas in May 07, ive used expedia and found flights and 7 nights for £565, the hotel doesn't get great reviews but its the cheapest and thats what I want. Does anybody know of a cheaper way to stay in vegas, caravan, camping, etc? Im looking for the cheapest possible.

    Cheers

I have been twice in late Sept which is about as busy as May, and I get a convertible for 5 days, return flights, and accomodation for 11 nights (4 and 5*, like the MGM Grand, Alladin, JW Marriott) for about £650. I would do everything individually.

Flights can be gotten for about £330 realistically. Hotels, the MGM grand from Sunday-Thurs is often available for £36. Car is pretty cheap too if you want one. Friday and satruday nights will be about £70 a room.

So a week without a car could be gotten for approx £500 each.

Look at https://www.fatwallet.com go to the travel forums and see how cheap Vegas rooms can be had for.

Where would that be taking off from though?
How far in advance would you book the flights, would you wait until last monute, or buy now?

    That would be from Heathrow.

Basically flights are a bit cheaper about 2-3 months out, the same with the rooms. The special rates come up with the hotels, and also you have the option with priceline.

Only Virgin fly direct, but a lot of airlines fly and have connections along the way. Another option would be to fly into LA and drive, its like 4 hours and the drive thru the desert is pretty cool, one way rental on a people carrier is about £40 with no excess. There are budget airlines also flying LA to Vegas for about £30 return.

Virgin at the moment have upto March for £356 inc taxes.

I went last year and the year before, and am going again next year. Hotels are cheap in Vegas for places like the MGM Grand, Luxor, Alladin. Personally, I would recommend the Aladdin for position on the strip, and they often do $59 a night rates (exclduing Friday and Saturday). friday and Saturday nites in Vegas are expensive.

If you know the exact dates you are going, you can see if the hotel has an offer (Look at Fatwallet, theyre all there) and book, they just take one nights deposit, fully refundable. And then wait for the flights.

The Strat is pants, and so is Circus Circus. If you can, consider going for about 11 nights, Monday thru to the following Thurs works very well, as there is a LOT to see, and fr 4 extra nights at a hotel its not much more.

In fact, what I tend to do is arrive Monday, stay on the strip thru to Friday (nice and cheap), grab a car and head off strip. There are hotels off the strip that are very nice, smaller (u will appreciate this as Vegas hotels are about the size of Bluewater) and a lot cheaper. Easy to get around, the savings will pay for the car, and stay offstrip thru to the following Thursday.

I've done that twice, late Sept/early Oct. Both times cost less than £700.

I fly with scheduled airlines, not chartered.
