Planning on going to LA for 7 days and Vegas for 3 days in September and needed some tips and advice.
Firstly, flights - want to fly from Manchester and who's generally the cheapest? Does anyone go direct?
Hotels - need some budget stays for both places, ideally in LA we'd like to stay in Hollywood/Beverly Hills. And in Vegas somewhere near the strip. We're looking for somehting around 3*.
Car - wanted to get a car, would prefer to pick-up and drop-off at the airport just to make life easier. What would the cost be for a family car? How much would petrol roughly cost? Also we would need a hotel with parking too.
Cheers!

Not sure that anyone goes direct to West coast from Manchester, therefore best bet likely to be American or United
For accomodation in LA, most places in Hollywood and Beverly Hills are around $100 plus a night. (they also charge extra for parking btw). Best bet is to look at Best Western or Days inn who i think have a few sites in those areas. Alternatively, there are a few independent motels around the Beverly Center (on edge of West Hollywood) that are a fair bit cheaper but not sure whether these would meet 3*. For vegas, plenty of choice for cheap rooms - tardust riviera, tropicana do relatively cheap rooms0 -
Can't hepl with flights but for Las Vegas look at http://www.cheapovegas.com/index.php .. also do a google search for 'Phil Feldman Las Vegas' ... he quite often puts up deals from the LA times. Vegas is much cheaper Mon-Thu nights and often there are BOGOF deals. Last time we went there we stayed in the Imperial which is centre strip (pretty much opposite Caesars Palace). It is not one of the glitzy themed casinos but offered great value for money (a deal posted by Phil Feldman resulted in me paying £22.45 (ish) for 3 nights for the both of us).
Also look for internal flights from South Western they often have BOGOFs and 'friends fly free' offers.
For cheap deals in Los Angeles keep an eye on the LA Times web site sometimes they have voucher codes for deals etc. Sorry but I have no idea about what hotels are where.

Our friends are doing a similar trip this summer. The only company they could find to take them from Manchester to LA/SF was a company called Mainstreet USA, they are also hiring a car, but flying onto Las Vegas for a few days. Maybe worth a try.He who laughs last thinks slowest.
I wished the buck stopped here as I could use a few.
Why do Americans sing "Take me out to the ball game" when they
are already there?0 -
Thanks all, will have a look into this further later. Might just go via Vegas if it's direct.2p off is still 2p off!0

BMI do fly direct Manchester to Vegas, but flights can be "ahem" pricey.
Flying with a stop over can save you a lot of ££££'s. daft Isn't it.
A rough guide price for LA to Vegas return in Sepetember is £64.00 incl tax.
It may be cheaper flying Man - Las - LA - Las - Man
try https://www.opodo.co.uk or https://www.aa.com on a multistop.

Bear in mind, that flights to the US are going to be a bit more expensive this year that last.
All the main US carriers have increased fares.
However, I generally go Vegas every year in Sep & March.
Best bet is to wait about 5 or 6 weeks prior to going, then book the flights.
Not too sure about other carriers, but i know United will do a regional connection to Heathrow from Manchester.
If you can get a deal around the £320 this year, I'd suggest you book it quick!
Hotels: LA - bst to search on opodo/octopus/expedia etc etc as there are loads.
Vegas - 3* for reasonable price your looing at Tropicana/Hooters/Flamingo/Stratosphere/Sahara etc.
Vegas.com will be your best price guaranteed - if not, email them and they refund differrence!
Car hire: Book it here before you go!!
Airline-network.co.uk have always been good for me for US car hire.
They usually have a deal with Dollar.
Prices range from approx £29 /day for basic up to £50 for luxury.
They also do a deal called Platinum, where by you pay about £4 extra and get a free tank of fuel, extra driver etc.
So so worth it!
Petrol prices now approx $2.70 around Vegas.
Worked out per litre it around £0.35.
So drive drive and drive like you cant do here!!
If your feeling rich or have a big win, go to https://www.dreamcarrentals.com
Hire a Hummer or Viper or something mad for the day in Vegas!
I did it and it was the coolest thing to do EVER!0 -
