Hi, we did Vegas this August before starting a road trip. We stayed for 3 nights at Bally's for $99 a night + tax (worked out about £60 per night). It has a fab location centre strip and the room was huge, even though it was classed as a basic double.
The trouble you have is that it costs more to stay on a Friday and Saturday, and sometimes Thursdays too, so you will have to balance out an average over the course of the week.
As a tip, go to https://www.local.live.com and check out vegas right down to street level. you can then plot out where you want to stay. Imperial Palace is also fairly central on the strip and is quite reasonable. Once you have an idea where you might consider trying, go direct to their websites and sign up for email offers. You will then find special offer emails coming in which can be great. After our trip we had a 1 night stay at the Venetian using an offer code from an email, and they then upgraded us when we got there.
A final tip, you can always book direct and then cancel without charge if a better offer comes in. That way you always have somewhere booked and you don't lose out by trying to wait for a good deal. Before doing this though you should check with each hotel's cancellation policy as sometimes you have to phone to cancel. You should also make sure there definitely isn't a charge to cancel before booking, although for most this is the case.
happy holiday!

ps check out https://www.tripadvisor.com for loads of great reviews before you go. It saved us a fortune and we had the best holiday ever using the tips given.Blonde jokes are one-liners so men can remember them...;)0 -
We did Circus Circus last month and if he does not mind kids then he should be ok there.
I did a Trip advisor report on the hotel.
As we live up North we booked flights and hotel through BMI 's website (from Manchester) the site then takes you to Expedia for the hotel booking.
As long as there is no huge convention or holiday (Presidents day is back end of February) he should be able to get a good deal.0 -
The Stratosphere is a decent place to stay if your not too bothered about the location.
Book it through Travelocity.com and put in HOTEL50 in offer code to get $50 off.
If you really want to save money, and your not bothered about where you stay, motel6.com is the place to go ... look for Motel 6 Tropicana. You'll get that for around $49/night (~£35/night).0 -
Expedia are showing a flight on 10th Feb with United Airlines...plus 7 nights hotel at Circus Circus for total of £6890

As previous posters have said rooms on a Friday/Saturday night are at a premium. Many folks from other states fly in for the weekend.
Try to find a hotel off the main Strip & it should be cheaper. Taxis are fairly cheap in the area. You never know you might win & be driving around in one of those big fancy limos!
I loved Las Vegas but you have to be strict with yourself or you could gamble your life away!0 -

Although it's no help, those dates would cover Valentines Day, so this may be the cause of the problem.
You could try splitting your trip into 2. The weekend off strip, eg, Orleans, Gold Coast, then spend the weekdays on the Strip. This may save quite a lot.0 -
I have booked the 2nd of feb for 6 nights to circus circus.Total cost was £440 on lastminute.com through quidco for cash back too..I booked the flight and accomodation seperate. The hotel was £300 for 6 nights and there is 3 of us..so that's not bad £100 each..This was the cheapest I could get on the strip apart from the stratosphere but that was a bit further on the strip0
