Hi everyone
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for five days before Christmas 2006. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
I haven't been around much cos life is still boring, boring, boring!!There really has been nothing to report. Added to the boredom has been some extreme fatigue, been practically nodding off standing up - not helped by my broken sleep of course. Still, lots of time for sleeping next week when I am once again unemployed!
I haven't read very much of the threads these past couple of days. However Joanna'sMum, I am sorry about your news - please don't rush the grieving process.
It was Quasar and Nelski's birthdays recently too, wasn't it? Happy birthday old girls!! (Only joking young ladies!!).
Still haven't put my Christmas tree up....how lazy am I?!
Bye all, have a great day.

'Morning Snowyowl and all who follow :hello:
Just having a peaceful meander around OS before everyone else gets up and before I have to go to w**K. Have had a lovely couple of days with my DDs at home ... it will be very quiet when everyone has gone. Eldest DD's OH brought their Wii and we have had lots of fun watching everyone play with it
I've had far too much to eat the last couple of days so I'll be back on the diet today ... after I've had one or two fruit and nuts, perhaps a small chocolate ... oh ... and is that a cold roast potato ... ummm yummy :rotfl:
I've got no chance!
Three more days at w**K and then I have two weeks off. I've been saving my leave for to make sure I have a really good break.
The new ceiling mounted airer arrived on Monday and OH has put it up in the kitchen. We have been practicing lowering and raising it from the ceiling but we haven't used it yet
Have a lovely OS day everyone:wave:Enjoying an MSE OS life0 -
Morning Snowy owl and others to follow.
Sorry to hear you are bored and still have no tree up. That's a must though, the tree must go up no matter how bad things might be.
I am a bit bored as well, but that's not through lack of job, but just there is little work coming in my way. It won't affect anything employment wise, I just like to be busier though.
So I shall go off to the office shortly and see what's new... Tonight is late night Christmas shopping in Truro, Cornwall near to where I live, It's usually great fun and the city put on a good effort. I still have a few things to get, but I will spend most of the time listening to Christmas music and eating the free food samples from the craft tent. I got some great dips there last week. Just the powder mixes that you add to Mayo or creme fresh... they were fab.
Today is very cold and frosty which adds to the christmas spirit a little. I shall have to do some scraping later to see out of the windscreen.
My son now has a plaster cast on his arm since falling over at Church last Sunday. He was messing about and fell complaining of a sore wrist. The local minor injuries unit confirmed the fracture by x-ray yesterday... He's quite happy though 15 yrs old and sporting a nice cast which gets him sympathy from the girls and some sort of wierd admiration from his mates.
Well have a nice day....NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -

Has to cut the sink & hotplate yet. Just saw on the news they've arrested someone else for the Ipswich Murders. Hope this is the correct one.

Morning OSers :santa2:
Christmas is galloping towards us at quite a pace now. Not having a functioning credit card is putting the mockers on last minute Christmas shopping. According to the website the replacement should be with me within the next 3 to 5 days - hmmm.... just in time to miss the shopping. Nevermind, it's my own fault.
The Watchers Ever Expanding Christmas (more people for Christmas Lunch than chairs in the house - 10 so far) is also possibly expanding again. I'm thinking of just putting a sign on the gate "Come One, Come All but bring your own knife, fork and chair"My youngest half-sister has come back from University to stay with my Dad. She usually stays with her Mum. According to my Mum (not been married to my Dad for the last 30 years so how come she knows and I don't) either I'll have another one for lunch (Noooooooo, but yes but...) or I'll have one less. Apparently Lil' Sis 'has plans for Christmas'.
Now, does this mean- She will be going to her Mum's
- She will be coming to our house
- She will be including our Dad in whatevr she has planned
It'd be nice to know.
On a nice note we're going outdoor ice-skating today. I say 'we' - I mean DD2(9) and her pals. I've been banned as too embarassing:rotfl: Darn shame I say - I could just do with a broken wrist for Christmas. That'd really put the tin hat on eveyone's plans.:D Being a lady of some size I won't damage myself if I fall over, just bounce a bit.
Well I need to go for a shower now. It's very nice as the Littlies are off school so early mornings are very peaceful.
Have a lovely day. (((((Christmas hugs))))) to all.
PW

You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.

Good morning everyone.
Penny pincher know what you mean about the ever expanding xmas dinner. I started out with 6 of us and am now up to around 18 at last count. I am now cooking for some of the oldies at my sheltered scheme who have no family to go to at xmas. At least we can use the big communal lounge and kitchen and the dishwasher:j and we will have enough chairs.;)
I will be doing cooked breakfasts for everyone on boxing day too - so far 26
Dont mind the cooking etc but shopping for everything is wearing me out.Just glad I had already done the family shopping and all the pressies.
Good luck everyone on the final few days of preparations, this time next week it will all be over with:xmassign: :xmastree: :santa2:

Good Morning All
Didnt get up as early as I wanted but never mind, have already crossed 1 job off my office to do list.
Lots to do today, have changed my to do list and first on there when I get back from school run is wrap up the last of the kids Xmas pressies and sort their stockings. WIll then hoover house and pop back into the office for a couple of essential jobs. Then will set up ironing board and start on the mountain - bearing in mind that the wm will be on all day today as well.
Need to surf later and look what time we can go and see Deck the Halls at the pictures tomm. Have to see at least 1 Xmas film, also will be booking up for Night in the Museum for the thurs after Xmas.
Now all shopping is done am looking forward to Xmas at last but am really looking forward to New Year and a New Start. Been on MSE for 1 year now and have made some changes but want to make a lot more.
Off now to dig out DD's school shirt to be ironed which is bound to be at the bottom of the pile!
Have a great day.0
