Good Morning, can't believe I'm first up, on a Sunday, too!!!
Off to fetch the thingy...............
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 17 December. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Hope everyone's feeling well this morning. Bit cold here, but I've put the heating on, so will soon warm up. Been awake for half an hour, so decided to come down here, have a cup of tea, then go back to bed and try and get some more zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Went to see The Holiday last night, with DH. Loved it! Jack Black was sooooooooo gorgeous, and Eli Wallach stole the show. I blubbed all the way through the second half.
Proud mother alert: DS brought home his report, and he's had a brilliant start to High School. He also brought home scones he'd made, and I have now officially hung up my scone-making pinny. I've never been much good at them, but DS's were among the best I've tasted. A friend came for breakfast yesterday and had one, and has commissioned DS to make some for her when the choir next has a "bring supper".
Off out to a party this afternoon, with a group of very close friends. Will be very relaxing. DS has asked if he can take some scones. Course he can. We don't spend nearly enough time together, so when we bake it's really good mother/son bonding time. I'm making a cake for DH to take to work - he's chairing a department meeting tomorrow.
DD is sleeping at a friend's house. They went shopping on the bus into "Big Town" which she hasn't done before, so was very excited.
Happy Birthday Foreverskint
Have a great day, and see you all later. :j

Good morning Penny, Pam and all to follow.:hello:
Penny your son (and his scones) sound lovely and you should be very proud of him!
I was wakened at 5am by a restless cat. The cat is now outside and all the baubles are back on the Christmas tree.
I'm in two minds whether or not to go back to bed for an hour, but there is so much to do today that I think I'll probably just stay up. Besides it's very peaceful being awake while the rest of the family are asleep. So far, the kitchen is tidy, the washing machine's on and the breadmaker's doing it's stuff. Later I'll go and visit my Dad and I need to do some more Christmas shopping and get some bits and bobs for Ds's 13th birthday on Monday.
I hope you all have a lovely day.

Edited to add: Happy Birthday foreverskint, I hope you have a good one!:bdaycake:
Thanks for the reminder anniebooklover0 -
Good morning.
Early up again. Although I must say I enjoy the early mornings.
A big church day today. The usual morning service with the Christmas flavour. Then we are at a friends house for lunch, followed by a big traditional carol service at 4.30.
I have to bring desert to the lunch date, so we have a huge pavlova which I let go all night in the cool oven of the Aga. It's fabulous!
Church should be excellent today. Truro Baptist if you are in the area at 4.30pm. If not I do recommend going to a Christmas service somewhere. Just get away from the rush of shopping and telly for an hour!

I too had a restless night. I have trouble staying asleep anyway but my daughter (21) woke me up at 2am to say that she was home safe and sound and not to worry grrrrrrrrr! - If I'm asleep - in my bed - then i wasn't worried was I
Spent the day at CRISIS yesterday getting one of the centres ready - cleaning toilets and kitchens in an empty office block with some unidentified industrial cleaners that didn't work too well - am taking stardrops and microfibre cloths today - i don't care if people think i'm ocd.
have a good dayI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -

well done to your son penny, its all quiet here, frosty again i think, was sitting in the bath thinking it must be milder today then noticed ds2 had the radiator on at four  never usually have it on as it is needing bled, no wonder it was warm, good job i love him
the three dgs are coming over after lunch to get their christmas presents from squishy and ds2, think they are going to let them open them just to see their faces, mum and dad got sore heads just now and ds3 is getting a drum :rotfl:
hugs to all xx0 -
Dusting flour off my halo.....
Thanks to your post Penny my children will now have a yummy breakfast of fresh scones with homemade butter and jam. That's if they don't die of shock at seeing me up and about at this time on a Sunday morning.

Morning Guys!
Slept quite badly last night and have a sore throat and feel fluy(sp) this morning. OH is just making me a coffee:D as he had to help me out of bed and to the sofa as everything hurts!
DD is still asleep and I think she should be fine for school tomorrow and not too tired from the Germany trip. All her uniform is washed and ready to go. She breaks up Tuesday lunchtime:j :j :j all shopping is doen for Xmas etc as I dont like dragging ger around. Suggested if its not too cold that we go to the zoo as it should be quite quiet there...plus as shes a card holder she gets a free pressy. Its a nice few hours out.
3 washloads were done yesterday. 1 wasnt planned as I had an accident and needed to wash the bedspread I use in the lounge and washed the mattress protector at the same time to use the space up wisely;) Anyway, all dried and put away or ironing pile. DW needs unloading and toilet has been cleaned.
I have to go and have my coffee and meds, then will try and get on later.
Breakie: Toast
Lunch: Pasta/Spinach/Ricotta
Dinner:Chicken, Roasties, Yorkies, French beans, carrats, cauli, gravy
Have a great day guys.

Morning :hello:
Taplady and Scruffy -
Mr tru brought some M&S vouchers home from work the other day so we're buying posh food today
Neither of us know what we want for Christmas  so we're going together to pick our own then when we're home we'll go into different rooms to wrap them up lol.
Yesterday, I discovered that I like special fried rice
Advent calendar today - a choc teddy.
For the OS bit - I have to scrub the bath because master tru cleaned the paint brushes in there but forgot (yeah right) to rinse the bath when he'd finished. The bath looks like it's been decorated in a weird swirly brown and cream pattern :rolleyes:Bulletproof0
