Hello matphil
I think that the experts on the 'Old Style' board will have some suggestions and tips for you, so I'll move your thread across.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

Hi
I have had one of these for years (shows my age..) I had a breville one first which I wore out so am now using my shiny new £8.99 one from tchibo. It makes 7 at a time rather than 6 so the boys are happy.I use the recipe without yeast as they prefer it and its cheaper! The batter usually makes around 30 mini ring doughnuts.I cook them for exactly 2 minutes then flip them out onto a cooling rack with a heatproof spatula (watch your fingers!!!!!)Let them cool for a few minutes then I ice half and add sprinkles, and melt Tesco's chocolate cake covering in the microwave and dip the other half in this.Use a bowl and drop the doughnuts in and twist.A batch lasts about 1 day here..HTH

Don't know if you have one already, but if you have a bread machine, you won't need a doughnut maker; just make the dough in the machine and then cook them.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This is the one I use
3 oz plain flour
2 oz c sugar
2 tspns b powder
pinch of salt
3 fl oz milk
1 large egg
2 tbspns veg oil or melted butter
Combine the dry mix and whisk in the wet ingredients.I use a dessertspoonful in each ring so it doesn't spill over.;)0 -

I think Queenie means like the trditional way of frying the doughnuts in oil? You break off a piece of dough, squirt jam into the centre and drop in deep oil til golden brown then roll in sugar.0
