HELP!!! Sent a bill for using discount codes.....

Options
   I had a discount code for a company which basically gave you free flowers and chocs so ordered a few (well quite a few bunches for friends to be honest, but who wouldn't?) now they have sent a bill! I got the code from another freebie site, so didn't think it would be a problem to use. It does state in their terms and conditions that you can use any discount code as many times as you like as long as you place each order separately.... Its like tesco asking for their money back after you have used a code, can they do this??? Its not like I didn't input my name and address so didn't have anything to hide, I am being threatened with legal action for their mess up! Can anyone help???

Given you used the code from a site, it *is* possible that there were T&Cs associated with it that weren't advertised on the site you go the code from.

Phone them and tell them you used a discount code, that it specified X, Y and Z, and see what they say... Actually write to them to get it all down on paper...

  • I recommend getting some legal advice from the CAB before you say anything to the company. Careful what you put in writing to these folks! Don’t admit to anything, the minute you do – they can use it against you! I doubt that they would really take legal action, but just the threat can be very scary.

  • You see the thing is, the company have no contact phone number only a fax number or website, also in the letter they sent me it has a cc on the bottom with a large solicitors address, I called the solicitors and they had no idea what I was talking about, and actually the lady I spoke to found it quite funny and thought it was their own fault for allowing their computer system to send out over 50 bunches of flowers and chocolates for free.. It does say in their t&c's that you can you the discount codes as many times as you want as long as you order separately each time, Thanks C:eek:

Ignore it then - it might be worth checking in with the Solicitors from time to time to see if they have geard anything... They might even want to take action against the company themselves (or they might just see all advertising as good advertising :) ).

their computer system to send out over 50 bunches of flowers and chocolates for free..

Oh my gosh you used it over 50 times?? I'm not surprised they cottoned on to it! They really should have told you BEFORE they sent out the flowers and chocs though, as you didnt agree to pay for them before they were sent. IMO it's their fault for not telling you first that they were not happy - not billing you later! Mind you, I really wouldnt have expected to get away with that one :rotfl:
  • Seek advice from the citizens advice bureau at least then you will know exactly what your position is before contacting the company

So what's the actual amount of money they are asking for.... 50 flowers and chocolates... £1000 approx.???

What made you order 50 bunchs of flowers and boxes of chocolate? were they all delivered to you?

  • I think i have an idea of which company you are talking about. I have been wondering if to try it out or not, since the cost comes to £0.00 instead of just over £20.

Ill think ill give it a miss now.

    Hope things turn out ok,
