This may not be much help, but my sister-in-law got married in Las Vegas in one of those chapels of love by an Elvis impersonator ! They had an absolutely fabulous time:D But by all accounts it was a bit of a rigmarole, especially getting the marriage registered here. Sorry I don't know any more details but I should start planning now, and have a ball;)0

We got married in New Orleans, you don't need to get the marriage registered here it's valid in the UK.
As we had both been married before we needed proof of divorce (as you would here) and birth certs. We had to pay a separate fee because we didn't have US Social security numbers and the wedding fee and the judge married us a a courtroom. We booked the wedding for 2pm and went away to do the paperwork, it was a Monday so office was busy with weekend births and deaths being registered so by the time we got all the paperwork sorted it was 1.30 so we got married in our shorts and tshirts.0 -
Mr K This is where we got married www.littlechapel.com
I cannot recommend them highly enough and your wedding coordinator will ensure that everything is dealt with. You have quite a range of choices for your wedding service. The service itself only lasts about 10 minutes.
Beforehand you go to the County Court and purchase a license. We got the license the day before the wedding The wedding ceremony then takes place and the minister completes the license and sends it to County Hall for registering. We collected our license from County Hall about 5 days after the wedding - you can check on-line when it is available.
The marriage is recognised in the UK.
We started planning about 6 months beforehand, which allowed plenty of time to make adjustments and ensure we had the perfect wedding.
Feel free to PM me with any queries or if you need any more advice.0 -
MrSundin13 and I did the honours at the Clark County Courthouse in Vegas. Cost us about $55 all in (well...excluding the big hotel etc). We queued up for about an hour to get the licence, then crossed over the road to get hitched by the county commissioner guy. We've never had to register anything....as far as I'm concerned its recognised in the UK, end of story. I've not changed my name, so no rigmarole.0

I got married at the "Forever Grand" Chapel at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas 5 years ago. We had a fab time and followed the same process as everyone else. We are going back in 18 months time (my 30th b'day) to renew our vows in front of Elvis!
We chose the MGM Grand as we had lots of family coming over and some are a little bit stuffy, the MGM experience was nice but very formal and I really regret not going for the full Vegas/Elvis/Wedding Chapel (the whole point of getting married in Vegas imo) experience which I think we would have enjoyed more, hence the reason we are going back soon to do it the "proper" way, just the two of us!
The night after our dinner we had a special meal (just the two of us) at the top of the Skytower. The views were stunning and there were lots of people in wedding dresses obviously going for a meal after having got married.0 -
My brother got married in Vegas just him and his wife.
They had it put on the internet so everyone back home could watchGive me the boy until he's seven and i'll give you the man.0 -
We got married in April at a place called the Grove,
It isn't on the strip but personally i think that is an advantage (40 min drive away but they supply a limo)
It was absolutely beautiful though and I would definitely recommend them, the minister was extremely good, he had a good sense of humour and definitely helped us relax. You can go online and choose your own ceremony you can ask him to add in whatever readings you want so you definitely get your own personalised ceremony.
We could also video tape it ourselves without being asked to use their own videographer, plus the minister discourages a tip (most other chapels demand you pay the minister $50-60 as a tip so we saved some cash there), you can pay $50.00 and get all of the photos done digitally this was well worth it as we got more than 100 photos all very good quality which we could reprint to our hearts content.
All we needed was our passport and $55 to get the marriage licence, although we did get lost trying to find the courthouse as it had moved! would recommend getting the licence the day before.
Take a look at the Grove you get married outside in a Gazebo amongst landscaped gardens. It has stream running through it and you cannot hear any noise, no noisy slot machines nearby! it was an amazing day.
We chose the babbling brook package which was $550.00 a little expensive for las vegas (but worth it) but if you think about it it was still £300.00 odd only for the best day of our lives!

Miss K does not want the Elvis thing and thats ok by me. I'm having Elvis at my party when i get back.
So really looking at the hidden places and the hotels were we can.
Also she does not like The little white chapel either.
Thanks for all your help so far.
So i would need to be in Vegas for about 6/7 days in all? As looking to travel down the West coast aswell.0 -
We were in LV for 5 days that was plenty for us, aside from our wedding day we went to the Grand Canyon, Hoover dam explored the strip etc,
I would also recommend a little visit out to Red rock canyon if you have a car, we went there on our wedding day watched the sunset and saw the rocks change colour, it was lovely.
