FOUND IT!!
I've been searching for ages for this thread...it had slipped to page two already!
Moggins, I hope you don't mind if I add a few notes for the benefit of any new persons who are interested in this.
The idea is to get the home cleaned up, be realistic about what can be achieved, and then be realistic about keeping it clean and tidy. The inspiration is https://www.flylady.org. It's a bit American (nothing wrong with that of course!) though the advice is great!
The 27 fling boogie means just run round the room you're working in and grab 27 things to get rid of. It can be as small as a piece of paper, or mega big like an ugly bit of broken furniture. The aim is to end up with a clutter free environment.
Flylady also advocates the use of a timer - you can use the timer on your microwave, mobile phone, oven, or a separate timer you might have for cooking purposes. The recommended length of time is 15 minutes because "anybody can do anything for 15 minutes". Then you either have a sitdownandanicecupoftea or start another lot of 15 minutes.
The flylady website gives much, much more information, this is just to get you going since the challenge starts today!
Loads of people mentioned on the daily thread that they were going to be joining in with this. Anybody want to share their plan of action??
Mine is:
Today - wash kitchen/diner floor (done and it took two hours by the time I got it cleared!). I was also going to do the front room - will have 15 minutes at it, but it won't be finished.
Tuesday - bathroom, and finish front room
Wednesday - My bedroom
Thursday - Office
Friday - spare room (oh gawd, I'm shaking....)
Everyday including weekend - 15 minutes putting stuff away, tidying up, etc.
The idea is to get the house sorted out, then the 15 minutes a day is supposed to keep it maintained. That and some occasional 27 fling boogies, and a "big clean" from time to time.0 -
evening everyone i think i might join this it may give a kick up the you know what to do something about my sons toys i'm sure they breed there seems to be more to put away every day that will be my first challange seeing the floor in the toyroom.0

Hi Liley9 - that sounds like as good a place as any to start! Welcome to Old Style by the way, I see that you're new.

hi snowyowl yes i am quite new i've been lurking in the backround for ages reading the threads but i finally plucked up the courage to join in everyone seem so friendly dont really know what i was so worried about.0
-
Alright - I've lurked here long enough, too.
I'm a shocker - I get all into it, draw up lists, create spreadsheets on how to clean up my life and my home, just for them to sit on my fridge door with nothing marked off.
Now you can all hold me accountable!!! :T
We are moving to our new home in 2-3 weeks so I've got a fair bit to organise. The kitchen went in yesterday - not completely finished, but nearly. Whiteware arrived today. Hopefully painters will be finished by Thursday and I want to be able to keep the place clean and tidy! (At least for the first year LOL)
So - do we write a to do list each day - cover a different room each day - or each week? Any help appreciated. If there is to be any peace, it will come through being, not having - Henry MillerM.A.C.A.W Member . . Wannabe Flybaby0
