I would not trust sky as far as you could throw them, have got sky kit but it what what I got hold of myself through free ads, only wanted it for free radio and the odd free station they have I like.

Was really cheesed when Extreme moved to being a sub only channel a couple of weeks back...but their is no way on this earth I would ever join them and pay subs for it, its only tv I can live with out it easily. Still got all the cool free radio.

So many I know who have had subs have now dropped them due to the cost of the subs + license fee it all adds up and for what just more tv they dont watch of use.

The best thing you can do for free multi channel tv is a ftv sky box set up and a freeview box works fine always enough on when I choose to use the idiot box.

This may not be down to Sky but to the actual channel, which is not owned by SKY. They have probably elected to be included in the subscription package so that they will get a cut of that money. Don't forget that the majority of channels on the various Sky packages ( including all the Discovery and UK TV channels) are completely independent of SKY and it is up to them how they earn revenue.

Thats a fair point, but a friend of mine emailed the Extreme Channel and the letter come back saying although Extreme are well in profit being FTA this was a decision of the board to move into a sub based package....

To me that decodes as I smell a greedy fat cat.

By your own admission this decision was nothing to do with SKY, but with the board of Extreme . So why blame SKY?

It doesn't matter that Sky do not own the channel. Sky, (not the Extreme Sports channel) took my money for a service they agreed to provide - so they need to compensate me for the denial me of that advertised service.

I have sought advice and it is the Supply of Goods & Services act of 1982 that covers this breach of contract.

Up to a couple of weeks ago Extreme was a free-to-air channel. This meant that even if you paid no subs at all you would have been able to watch it. To say that you could only get it for free if you subscribed to a SKY package is not correct. All SKY agreed to do was to provide you with the subscription channels not the free ones, which as I have said above do not need any subs or even a SKY card to receive them. I'm sorry but I just don't follow your logic.

Have you read your Sky subscription terms and conditions? If not they can be found on a link near the bottom of the page here.

I haven't read the whole lot but as I suspected they do refer in several places to changes in packages and the changing status of channels. Before taking on any organisation it is worth looking at your contract terms and studying them. You can bet your life that there will be people in Sky who will know them off by heart.

Yes , I think me must agree to disagree .To quote you:-

"Advert on website contains list of channels I get if I subscribe to Sky. Fact.
I paid, then they move one of the channels that featured in the advert to a subscription only, thereby denying me of what was advertised."

But, as I have said above, you would have been able to receive Extreme even if you had not subscribed. So I think that channel would have not formed part of the contract. It was just an "extra". As to it changing from free to subscription, that was outside the control of SKY,they did not move it, that was purely down to Extreme. Sky was probably unaware that this was going to happen.
