I recently visited the Birmingham dive show and have today had a phone call to say I won one of the holiday prize draws. It all sounded a bit dodgy to me from the start, but I was told I have won a holiday for 4 including flights and a 4 star hotel. I did actually genuinely win a holiday before at the London dive show and was sent all the holiday vouchers and flight tickets directly no problem. In this case I was told I needed to collect my prize and go to a holiday exhibition in Warwickshire, where I would choose my holiday destination. I asked the caller to email me all the details as I didnt believe him.
Below is more or less what I received and as I thought it does appear to be some sort of con probably timeshare or something like that.......
Any one else had any similar experiences?

Will be Timeshare or holiday club. Cannot find a website for so called firm, probably hiding behind another name. Treat with caution, they just want to give you the hard sell and take your money.
Remember, Timeshare can be for life. As soon as a Timeshare rep. starts talking they are lying.0 -
Hi,I receive exactly the same telephone call today followed by the email. Have you noticed all the spelling mistakes!!!! Am very cautious. I did get on their website. which says pretty much the same. Husband thinks it's a time share sell so we won't be driving to Hatton to collect the prize!0
-
It won't be timeshare - its sale is far too regulated these days.
Most likely a 'holiday club' - which is even worse. You pay megabucks up front and probably an annual fee as well for the 'privilege' of booking 'discounted' holidays that a travel agent could provide for less anyway0 -
They were asking for 49pp for a european prize and 99pp for a worldwise prize.
They are registered at the same address as various timeshare operators.
I guess we will know for sure after the weekend when people head up to Hatton for the prize giving!0 -

Do not believe that Timeshare sales are too regulated these days. Ask any owner. Timeshare sales people will get round any so called regulations.
That is why so many people feel they have been ripped off.
Plus you still pay an annual fee for for Timeshare as well as Holiday Clubs, as well as megabucks up front.
But whether its Timeshare or a Holiday Club steer clear just book at your local travel agent as dzug1 says.0 -
If you have to go to Hatton in Warwickshire ( would it be Suite 6 Building 11 Dark Lane ?)
This is the address of Shakespeare Classic Line. This is a Timeshare company offering canal Timeshares. A few weeks ago there was a firm called Sugar Reef working with them. Sugar Reef have an address in Exeter which is scam city as far as Timeshare / Holiday Clubs are concerned.
Do not touch with a bargepole, could be very dangerous to your finances.0 -

mmm yes - heard of this (or a similar) outfit. Canal boat timeshare falls outside the scope of timeshare sales regulation so you lose what little protection you have.0 -
There is not much protection when you purchase a Timeshare. It all seems to be on the sellers side.
Just do not get involved, then you will not have the hassle or expense of trying to escape.0 -
Lucky I didnt get sucked in.
Really naughty as the guy on the phone told me it was an all inclusive trip for 4, so it sounded like I had won one of the real prize holidays from the dive show.
The email was really bad though, but I bet some people have fallen for it. I got the call just hours after being made redundant too and for a minute thought my luck was changing.0 -
