OK - very nervously going to start a diary...
Well - here's the story - I am in my thirties, married, 3 kids, we bring in a reasonable amount of money between us - but have a massive mortgage (cos we only bought a house 4 years ago, long story - some other time;)). We have about £1400 of debt - which if I stop being lazy we could get rid of by Christmas.
BUT I have a mad plan to go to uni next year - I already have a degree, so there will be NO financial help. So we need to get saving - because I am not the sort of person who can work, look after 3 kids and study. I'll go nuts.
So as of next September (if all goes to plan) - we'll be £1000 down every month - and paying for uni. _pale_
Today being September 1st, seemed like a good starting point for Project Budget...
So - I hope some of you will come along for the ride.

Hello lovely! Wow there you go I didn;t know that about you so I'm already learning something. What degree are you hoping to do? Why now, what's the decision?
Debt wise - sometimes the smallest amounts are the hardest to pay off so stick to the budget and be tough!

Hi Rupe,
I would love to be able to quit my job and do a full time degree, it would be my dream. But with £16k of debt that is not going to happen. What degree are you planning on studying? I have just been accepted onto a part-time CIPD course starting in February. I need to find £2800 per year though to pay for it........
I will subcribe and help keep you motivated. I started my own diary but I havnt updated it for about 3 months. Think I might start it up again.

I’m back and more determined than ever!!!!!0 -
Hi Rupe
Didn't realise you hadn't got a diary of your own! Your debt is similar to mine and like you I know it could be paid off by Christmas with a bit more effort so I'm trying very hard. Good luck - I have subscribed to follow your progress!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
