He brought an old house that hasn't been decorated since the 1950's. It's been like that for a few months now because it's "so much effort" and he is still living with his parents. I'd show you the rest of the album but he'd kill me. :rotfl:

I've offered to help many times but apparently all I'm qualified to do it take photos.

    hi Thriftlady
Can you tell me where you got your siver utensil jars
i have been looking for brushed silver for ages
nice kitchen by the way and that ceramic bowl on your shelf do you use that for baking? because my mum had one just like that and i remember standing next to her on baking days
    those were the days lol
Funky fairy's right, the utensil jars are from Ikea. They would look gret in your kitchen wouldn't they?
The bowl does indeed get used several times a week for baking.Love your kitchen btw.I'm amazed you can see the things on my shelves at all as the pics are so small-don't know what I did wrong, mind you Lillibet's pics are huge! That's a whopper of a baby you've got there Lillibet :rotfl: but so cute ;)

Quackers, you are absolutely right about the layout of my house! It is a Bryant house, the design is called Asquith. The door next to the cupboard under the stairs goes into the sitting room/lounge.The door into the garage is fantastic, because I have access to my freezer and also more storage for kitchen stuff.I thought about posting a pic of my jam shelves which are just inside the garage,I store all my hm marmalade, and jams there -looks really impressive ;) but I just couldn't face any more technical stuff.

I love those bowls, you just can't seem to get them as big as that these days. My biggest one won't even fit in the microwave. I did have one that had a wedge shaped bottom for standing on it's side while you whisked things but that got broken last year. I'm down to two of them now.
Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

    Hi everyone,

Here are some 'before' and some 'during' pictures of my kitchen. We just moved into this flat (our first bought place) in October 2005 and have been doing it up. We seem to have lost momentum though as the kitchen was put in at the beginning of December last year (PRE LIGHTBULB MOMENT!) and tiled in the New Year break, and we have had the paint (light whitey green) for 2 x months and have yet to paint it. We also need to tile the floor (black slate) and I am saving up for this - maybe next challenge for my £2 coins!

    Before:-

I LOVED the red formica worktops but that was the only cool thing about the old kitchen - it was not very pretty and not very user friendly.

The light in the photos wasn't great and they don't seem to do it justice - I love it.

I'm just hoping there's no reflection in the photos as I was in my jammies when I took them!

My dream is to have a kitchen like Sarahsaver's or pawpurrs - vintage chic - I (like us all) would love to live in a big farmhouse with vintagey painted cupboards, a real flagstone floor, range cooker, big scrubbed pine table and lots of auction/antique shop finds such as welsh dressers and old fashioned kitchen implements etc. Edited to say - I've just reread this - I hope that doesn't sound selfish - I know I am very lucky to have the above kitchen, but we all dream!

Sorry, just realized how selfish I was hijacking the thread with photos of Spud (Who isn't at all smiley today:rolleyes:)....should have just updated my avator instead but it always takes me forever!

Everyones kitchens look so fab. Wish I had a more ecclectic one as it's a old house but mines really tine & 'cos it's a terraced house so I have to keep it very organized. I have a window each side of it, one that gioves out onto the garden except we have a conservatory where the washing machine is, and a "stolen light" window oppopsite between the kitchen & the dining room, so I don't have much wall space in it either. And I have to keep it tidy 'cos it's so small, the work tops are full in no time if I don't keep on top of things!

Thanks to the original poster of the Photobucket site, it's really easy to use. Thank goodness I didn't know about it a few weeks ago when I got the teapot stuck on my hand or I could have illustrated my plight!

hey scottishspendaholic why did'nt you keep the red worktops, they look soooo nice :)
Wish i had the money to do something with my kitchen, as you can see in a earlier post, the walls are really blue and i have cr*p flooring.
Trouble is it costs a lot of money and time to update a house like we are.

Well this morning I am looking at everything in a different light after watching Anthea last night (why oh why!!!) The kids lunchbags were on the side whan i took the pic, awaiting a wipe and decontamination before school on Monday! I am near to getting rid of the microwave. I have some cupboards that are so high i have to climb on the shelves to get to the top shelf :( so i have not got everything stored practically. Anthea would have a fit of rage! (tee hee) Today I am not leaving a room without taking something with me 'out of place' and putting it in its right place.
The cooker was my biggest ever impulse purchase at £450! 6 years ago  but it was worth it, and its all paid for now anyhow:)
The bulging fruitbowls did contain 3lb cox apples and about 5lb bananas, and a box of grapes. Down to 5 apples and no grapes!
I am going to tidy a bit more then come round to some of your tidy houses and mess it up a bit, even just a coffee cup on the side or something! This has been great fun! I wanted to start another - charity shop fashion, but I think it would slow things down too much!
Enjoy your kitchens, big, small, tidy, 'lived in', what ever, a quiet revolution is happeniing here...
