Extreme Money Saving !!!!!!

Options
Hi !

I thought I would start a light hearted / tongue in cheek thread to see what funny suggestions MSE members have for extreme money saving !!!

My suggestion. Is only go to the loo at work. (ie reduces your home water bill / no flushing the loo at home, plus saves on home loo roll costs).

Any other extreme money saving suggestions ???????

Make sure you go on as many training days as poss, where lunch is provided, and you get loads of biscuits to take home lol
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Go completely against social etiquette and only have a poo at other people's houses so as not to spend your own money on toilet paper.... :D

I once saw this programme about Britain's meanest man (for all I know he posts here). He used to take home a thermos flask full of hot water from his workplace to make his tea with at home because "they've already paid to boil it". Now THAT'S mean. (My ex thought it was entirely normal, but then she was tighter than him, if anything.)

Go and visit someone and be warm in their house whilst turning off the heat in your own house. If you sit there long enough they may invite you for tea.;)

does extreme moneysaving have to do with sponging off other people/organisations or does it come from depriving oneself .

my husband has a friend. years ago we went to his place in holland around christmas time. him and his brother shared a place to share rent. they had no heating in the house. it was a cold winter and temperature around -15 C outside and they gave us a portable electric heater. suffice to say we could not wait to get out. they were mean with their money and always had to get the cheapest of the cheapest. cheapest bread, spreads etc. he is a cheerful guy but he loves to see his burgeoning bank balance.

to me it is a waste of your life to live so meanly. if you are in debt, i can understand it. but i cannot fathom why people skimp on food and basic pleasures in life, if they can afford it.

Call people identify yourself and chat for a minute, then suddenly hang up…they will almost always call back..then you can say

"oh gosh I don’t know what happened there"

That saves phone bills and is terribly mean! lol
In Jan 2007 I had a debt of £27,896.00
In October 2011 I paid it off and owned £0.00 - Kinda proud of this!:T
