skintchick wrote:That will actually cost you more - your car is more efficient on a full tank.
why is that then?? and how does the car know ??? a-haaaaa,,,,,
and will the colour of the car affect its efficiency, i always think that black cars look so much more efficient than other colours dont you?:EasterBun ...what more do I need to say?!
its all in the name of medical science.0 -
once my dad was driving behind a big lorry, the doors flew open and out fell a few large boxes. inside were probably hundreds of smaller packets of a well known frozen fish brand. we lived on them for months, as did the neighbours0

Must admit i agree with skintchic, its probably more mental attitude but when i my tank his the last 1/4 i get less miles probably because i panic I might run out, So to fix it I top up full once a month and add £20 ish a week, eventualy you can only get £10 or so in :-) and im never worried I will run out.If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

lynzpower wrote:hehe going on from the "pill" comment before, Too much info I know but the merena coil stops monthlies altogether, as does the depo provera injection!Saving a fortune, and they are FREE! LOL!!
Just to prewarn people thinking of doing this - I tried Depo-provera a couple of years ago thinking that a life without monthly inconveniences would be fantastic, unfortunately it had the opposite effect on me (and you have to wait at least 3 months for the depo to wear off!) I persisted for 9 months before reverting back to the pill. Have friends who have had the desired effect tho.0 -
Saw this on an Army training programme one time. They get several sheets of toilet paper for a week away training or something like that, so one sheet per No. 2. You tear of a small corner of the one sheet of toilet paper and the fold the other bit, put your finger through the centre of it and then wipe your bum, then you pull it up and off and bury somewhere, then you use the corner to clean under your fingernail. Grossssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You could use just enough of a sinkful of water to wash yourself and lather up soap, do your hair etc and then use the water that is in the sink and a flannel to wash off most of the soap etc and comb out most of the lather in your hair with a wide toothed comb and then just run the shower to rinse off the residue rather than having it run the whole time that you are in the shower. Dry yourself off with a dry flannel, rather than using a big towel too.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0 -

Take light out of fridge. 5 sec s of light 5 times a day = 2.5 hours of electricity a year. ALso taken one out of oven as I cnat understand what thats all about
My mate has also just put two new lights up for me (freebies) and taken the spots down. That will save the elctricity a bit. But these are enviromental issue rather then money saving0 -
john_kent wrote:My oven top gets real hot , so when I cook a meal in the oven , I put the kettle on top to start it warming up , thus using less leccy when I boil it for a drink with my dinner. This is more an enviroment thing , though the two (moneysaving and enviro are linked).
It would save even more money if you put a saucepan full of water INSIDE the oven, as well as the kettle on top. Then fill the kettle with the already hot water. For maximum moneysaving/minimal environmental impact put the saucepan inside once you've turned the oven off, so that there is no risk of using extra energy to heat it up.
Buy petrol in the morning rather than the evening. Petrol is sold by volume, so it's best to buy it at its coldest (things contract when they are cold!) after a night in the tanks.Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -

John, how do you read the meat thermometer if you can't see it? The light helps prevent food poisioning as far as I'm concerned!
I guess the most extreme thing I do to save money is to save paper towels I can't avoid using at work (if I wash my lunch box and need to dry it, for instance) then use them at home to clean mirrors. I also let it dry in between use by hanging it on the door.I'm an American living in Oxford using the exchange rate to my advantage. (As of 4 Oct 2006: 1USD=1.88GBP)
