I have been on several of the sun holidays my favourites were:
Parkdean Crantock Beach - This is near Newquay, amazing caravan - best I have ever stayed in (didnt upgrade) and right next to a beautiful beach.
Parkdean Warmwell - Really pretty site, had a small wildlife walk where I saw a deer, had a dry ski slope and was close to Weymouth

Hendra Holiday Park in Newquay is nice, the best part is the swimming pool which you have to pay for, but can get a discounted rate by pre booking 7 sessions in advance.
Haven greenacres nr porthmadog is very nice quiet-ish park with direct beach access. Very close to portmerion (10 mins in car). reasonable distance for day in abersoch (45 mins ish if i remember).

Used the offer in the Sun for a number of years now and been very happy overall. Stayed on various sites in Wales and Cornwall, the best being Parkdean Hollywell Bay Newquay, Caravan fantastic and very clean, grounds are quiet and very close to the beach, booked again this year for Newquay Holiday park, just hopes it's as nice.

went to Parkdean's Grannies Heilan Hame, Scotland in September 2007. upgraded to extra wide caravan and got a privately owned caravan. was beautiful! park was very clean, quiet and well maintained, staff were friendly and park shop wasnt too expensive. park was virtually on the beach too. would recommend this park.
off to Parkdean's Cherry Tree, Norfolk in June, hope its as nice as the last one.

This was our favourite as well.
We also stayed at Parkdean in Newquay (good site but inland) and Haven at Perran Sands (fabulous location but really awful chalet and the shop was closed most of the time, which wasn't helpful). We also had to pay a deposit for our bed linen and take it back after - at Parkdean it's just there.

We are staying at Hendra Holiday Park in Newquay, we've been before. Caravans are fab, the site isnt too big but has a fab swimming pool that visitors from outside the park can pay to use. Nice bar/restaurant but dont think the evening entertainment is worth paying to see! We managed to get the half term week in May with the Sun holidays, great deal.

We have just stayed at the Park Resorts Site in Kidwelly. A small site and only expected a 2 bed bronze caravan but was given a privately owned 3 bed chalet. It was fantastic. Lovely jumping off place for the Gower Coast. Llanelli Millenium Coastal Path and Park is amazing. Would def. go again.

If you are planning to take your dog steer clear of Park Dean site at Warmwell, Weymouth. When I enquired the charge for the weekend break was £30. After making the booking with the Sun and receiving a confimation when I booked the dog the charge was £50. This was because I had booked through the Sun and not direct with the park. Outrageous charge for a dog for two nights, BEWARE

great offer if you're a Sun holiday maker, bad news if you're a full paying holiday maker. What were once quiet and peaceful places to go have now turned into Chav city.
We have been on 2 of these a year since our son was born 5 years ago and have only had one dire experience (Pontins Prestatyn - dirty and disgusting and totally run down). We never take the entertainment passes which saves a bundle and occasionally upgrade, but have always said that we really don't need to when we haven't as all of the accomodation has been more than adequate. Parkdean resorts are usually good and Haven are probably the best, but we have stayed at several others quite happily. Excellent value for a short break.
We have just come back from a Monday to Friday(last week) in Cleethorpes at Thorpe Park which is a Haven site.
It was just OH and myself and our Greyhound.
The total cost was
£38 Accomodation
£22 main season supplement
£23.96 Power charge
£20 Extra for our dog
Total cost £103.96.
It is a great site. Very very clean and the caravan was perfect.
It was a 4 berth --------and luckily we were in a quiet part of the site. I must say the site was packed though but we never had any problems with noise!!!!
There is direct access to the beach and a great cycle/walking track along the front in to Cleethorpes.
The petrol cost us £35 for the week and we took our own food. We didnt bother with the passes or the linen.
Hope this helps someone when deciding where to go.
Also does anyone know if the Main season supplement is just applicable to the summer holidays or does it apply to the next lot of Sun holidays in Sept/Oct?????
Twitchen House in Woolacombe
Bideford Bay
Devon Cliffs in a few weeks!
La Croix Du Vieux Pont ( one hour away from Disnelyland paris) twice ( and going again in Oct half term!)
definitely worth doing for us,as we can only holiday in school holidays,so huuuuge savings to be made

I went to Haven camp at Pwhelli and found the same thing. "power charges" then "High season supplement charge" then £38 "entertainment passes"; "linen charges" etc. Upon arrival we learnt that we were called "The Sun People" who were all herded into just one area of the chalet blocks. Obviously, it was the most run down area because the chalet was so vandalised, dilapidated and STUNK so bad we had to leave early...couldn't stand it a minute longer. We've since heard that Pwhelli chalets are becoming generally well known for this sub-standard accomodation....
Maybe a caravan would have been better but be warned about this location!! Never again for us.....all the more surprising that I've stayed at Haven before and found them ok then.

I've been on a few of these sun holidays, as I take the dog I always check on line to make sure I book the dog friendly parks.
Just come back from Dawlish Sands in Dawlish Warren, lovely park lovely caravan, only£20 extra to take the dog for mon-fri.
Also been to Borth in Aberwystwyth, extra £30 for dog mon-fri, again lovely site and lovely caravan.
Other parks we've been to are, Kiln Park Tenby, Donniford Bay near Minehead which was chalets, Bideford Bay, and Ilfracombe- which was a John Fowler site. Depending on which company owns the park ( Park Resorts, Haven etc) depends on how much extra you pay to add in the dog. Best one so far has been Dawlish only £20. Definately will go back there again.

we did one of the sun's holidays to carmarthen bay in wales. NOT good. Caravan was fine but cold but it was october so what do you expect! It was the last week of the season the shop was closed because of ne stock the pub ran out of food, and ran out of mixers such as coke and diet coke. Most of the entertainment crew had already left so there was next to no entertainment. The pool was colder than the sea out side we complained (my little boy went purple in 2 mins it was so cold even my BIL who is a diver and swims the british coasts all year round said it was too cold for him. Did ''complain'' nicely to the site manager who shrugged his shoulders and said we'll get it sorted nect year!!!!!. Lovely area but not brilliant site would not reccommend it at the end of the season unless you only want the caravan as a base
