Daily thread - Sunday 1st March (St David's Day)

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday 29th Feb. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.

Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!

Good morning! Alas one should have food so you dont wake up at 3am!! Just had a bowl of cereal which should do the trick so will be able to go back to sleep! Just put on Angels in America which I've found on on demand - interesting and quirky but not for the feint hearted and definetly deserved the 18 rating...today will be church and dont know what pm - must do the jam and pectin before all goes to pot!

Good morning all. In Search of Me - hope you managed to get some sleep.

Well, I haven't been on here much lately so I am not up to spec with all the news so (((hugs))) to all in need.

At the moment my life seems to consist of making lots of lists due to our move to France within the next two months. One of the first things to do is sort out an internet provider so I don't have to be without MSE for any longer than is necessary! Donny-gal has pointed me towards the Living Abroad thread so no doubt I'll be spending a fair bit of time on there. She has already given me loads of advice; it's great to be in touch with someone who has been through it all!

My DIL1, who is a geography teacher, is off to Costa Rica tomorrow on a trip with her college, so DS1 is in charge of the family until she returns. After-school is being taken care of either by me or her Mum, and DS1 is taking a couple of days off work, too, so there should be no problems there. She's going for ten days, so hopefully the children will survive their Dad's cooking until she comes back!

Dinner today is roast pork, cabbage, carrots, potatoes and gravy; not sure what pudding will be. Maybe just a choc ice!

Anyway, will try and catch up with everyone's news.

    Have a great Sunday.

    Morning.

Quiet and fairly dull here. Not sure what the plans are for today or what is on the menu. We had American freinds over last night and made pasties, well, we got them to make their own, so they can go back and say they made a pasty.
They brought over a great desert of a huge chocolate baked cheesecake... delicious. And root beer of course!!
I made a heart stopping breakfast of Biscuits and sausage gravy, with crispy bacon and egg. I love American food, but it was a good energy food if you were working in the fields all day and not lounging about.
BT called last week offering a great phone deal and internet. I was intersted, but they have not called back since... some sales pitch! I hate cold callers, but this was a good deal.. I am not going to chase them.
Need to tidy up my study and think about putting stuff on e-bay.#
Plymouth won a footy match which was amazing... may be there is hope.

Cheers and have a nice day

Good morning everyone. :D I've been awake about an hour and been happily reading the online newspapers. Very MSE :D

Today is a pottering day. OH is out for the day so I'll be sorting through the freezers this morning, doing some defrosting and spending some time later on doing some batch cooking to make my life a bit easier during the week. I'll also be be baking some muffins.

Pasties sound a good idea N9eav, I may look at making a batch to put into our packed lunches this week.

I haven't decided what dinner will be, but I fancy doing something with rice and lentils. Perhaps as a side dish to a chicken dish. I will spend some time rummaging through all the sheets of A4 paper on which I've written my MSE recipes. I really ought to start looking at getting some A4 ring binder and sorting them properly.

I started to re-read the £20 to feed a family of four challenge thread again last night. I'd forgotten how good it is. I need to read it with a notebook by my side though to capture all the good ideas.

Have a lovely OS everyone, and big big (((hugs))) to those who need one.
Enjoying an MSE OS life :D

LOL at this! My boys are doing really well this year but will no doubt blow it at the end

Legs are still stiff from yesterday but am all nurofenned up as I'm of out for a gentler walk today - around Soho to look at some literary sites. Going to reat myself to a spoonies (wetherspoons) brekkie before I go
dd(12) was given a no-longer-needed-by-work laptop yesterday courtesy of Mr Caring Sharing so I'm guessing I'll be communicating with her even less than before - oh well. She will be home around tea time. After that it will be a mad rush to get some flying done before the week starts again.

have a good day all and hugs to all those having trying times of it at the moment

Having not won since Dec 26th, I was shocked. And at Wolves too. But this is not a footy thread. Off to get the Sunday paper....

    Morning all!

Not much OS going on today - work until 5, hopefully I'll be able to get some studying done, then off to rehearsals until 9, then off to a local gig. I'm reeeeeeeeally tired, but I feel like I haven't seen my friends in so long so we're off to see a few bands :D

Have a wonderful day, ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) to anybody who needs one

    Morning all,

Looks a bit overcast here today, but no rain yet, OH got up early and went to the car boot sale, so I am up a bit earlier than normal on a Sunday, still its ok, I have put the nets from the hallway into the wm, and will get them onto the line, the hallway looks much better painted white, just need to get all the coats and shoes back in there, my lounge currently looks like a jumble sale

I have my parents coming over for lunch today, their cooker has broken, and they are unable to use it, so its difficult for my mum to cook, bless her, once I invited her she turned up with a huge bit of pork, and 20 profiteroles, she also asked if she should buy the veg, I suppose you never stop being a mum do you ? so the bit of pork I had bought has remained in the freezer for next week.

So lunch today will be roast pork, roasties, carrots cabbage, brocoli, with profiteroles and triffle to follow, after that we wll not need any tea later, dd can grab a snack if she needs to.

Kathy, how exciting for you, what are the plans once you are over there, and is it a permanent move ? make sure you get your internet sorted quickly, otherwise you will miss all the action on MSE.

DD is off out with her dad again today to watch one of her brothers play footie, so once I have tidied through and got the dinner underway I will get the dog out for a walk.

Oh well I need another cuppa, have good days all xx

    Morning :hello:

Did anyone see Grand Designs last night? A couple built a house in France out of recycled stuff, I'd love to do that. Mioliere, when you move can I come with you? :D The program is online HERE.

I dropped some cards off to a shop the other day, not many are selling TBH but the owner thinks it's because the basket gets lost amongst everything else and as it's a farm shop, people don't think about cards when they're there. So she's going to have a proper craft area and she wants to sell her handmade stuff too :j She'll be making scarves, aprons etc. And she wants me to bring in a proper card stand with a cupboard underneath so she can keep lots of my stock :j Me and mr tru are going to make it out of recycled louvre doors :D

I have to nip out to a friend's to drop something off, then I'm home for the rest of the day. It's dull and cloudy here, just how I like it if I have to go outside (me and the sun don't get on very well ) so I'll spend most of the day digging, raking and arranging the garden.

Actually that's not quite right - there's somewhere else I have to go but I can't remember where
