Board Reorganisation Suggestions

In a couple of weeks we're going to take a look at the boards and how they're organised. There are no big changes planned - just once in a while its worth taking a look at.
As an example - the most popular post board doesn't get much users - should it be disbanded or made a subboard of another board (perhaps how much have you saved) etc.

- What are main boards?
- Are the sections right (ie home & play or MoneySaving for who and what you are)?
- Are the right boards main boards and the right boards sub boards?
- Should any boards be merged/split up?

I'd vote for moving the 'New MoneySavers: Pls read this' board so that it is closer to the 'Site Feedback: Questions & suggestions' board. They both have similar topics, so why not put them together? A bonus could be that more members will actually read the Forum Rules.
Also, I would like to see the 'MoneySaving Old Style' board renamed to 'Old Style MoneySaving'..............simply because it doesn't always jump out at me (I find it difficult to spot sometimes).............and I know where to look for it, so what must it be like for newbies?;)
I'd like to see a sub board (of 'Special Occasions & Celebrations' or 'Travel, Trips & Holidays'?) for 'Theatre, Concert & Events Tickets'.10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j [/COLOR]:cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. Yeah that's a good idea Nile
In the freebies section, I think it would be a good idea to have another subforum that freebies that require p&p, a sae, a phonecall or a text message can be put in. As it is freebies with no spend can only be put in there.
Thats all I can think of for now but I bet I'll be back;):hello:0 -
I'd like to see the housing boards merged back please - they are dull and lifeless now and the same three people answer all the questions while all the interesting people have moved to the house price one...which in turn is full boring discussions about HPCs...they were better as one because the mix of peeps made for better discussions.
I'd also like to see the comps board given some of category of what the prize is - maybe just a tag for easier searching...
Oh and dont you dare split up the DFW board or there'll be anarchy0 -

Well, I did think there should be several extra sub-boards instead........

Sometimes I think it would be helpful to have the Charities Board and the Small Biz & Charity Organiser boards closer to each other, so that at least people would see we have both, ie one for giving money to or individually raising money for a charity, and one for those concerned with the broader issues of charity management, which are remarkably similar to the needs of a Small Biz.
I will carry on thinking about it and post any other bright ideas as they arrive!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Bankruptcy and Living With it could certainly be a board on its own.

No further comments on reorganisation than I've aired previously. But a big thankyou for responding to two earlier ideas:
1. A separate thread for budget airlines on the travel board - well, at least, we've hived off the Ryanair rants!
2. Moving the Wanna board into the Shopping forum. Now we just need the newbies to use it!
All we need now is for the 'rules' to be changed to allow for an 'overseas' board. Actually the 'rules' say it is an 'England and Wales' website (presumably so it is governed by the laws of those lands?). But that doesn't stop Scottish and Northern Ireland items. We even have an 'Edinburgh' Board Guide around. So why not move the Silver Savers thread into a more prominent mainstream position. Especially as how this government is driving loads of us to flee to overseas havens.0 -
The 'Travel, Trips and Holidays' board always seems to diverse too me. £8 Travelodge rooms v people looking for 5k luxury holidays. I suggested this before - can we please have UK & Overseas Board? Or even UK/Europe & Rest of World?
I agree with others who have suggested merging the housing boards back together - they have lost their sparkle.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

If it works out could we have the up your income board near the small business board? There are lots of cross over areas where people are trying to set up small businesses from home to earn a bit of extra cash and both boards are relevant.
