just been checking out dual duel on the comparison sites ... and seeing that quidco offer £44 for scottish power dual duel .. who i know were always cheapest in our area (yorkshire)
versus brit gas and n power .... scottish power normally show at 14% cheaper overall with their "dual fuel energy online" and / or " dual fuel energy online no standing charge"....
but today .....
on ukpower.co and simplyswitch.co and scot power site .....
but not showing on uswitch or energyhelpline
in addition is a " scottish power inline dual fuel ENERGY SAVER"..showing saving as 25% !!
phoned scot power ... the girl said she'd just had a memo today advising that this new tariff...which she did not have price details of ... just launched and in most of the country this was the cheapest deal around .. and it was only available through companies "eg simplyswitch" .. she couldn't sell me it .(but note it is available on their website.
Looks a cracker ... don't see i can lose ??... you can change to another contract with them at any time .. or cancel with 28 days notice.

TO enrol you must be willing to manage your account online (which basically means you must enter a reading every month or so to ensure you get your discounts). The online discount has been changed from £15 (plus vat) to £45 (+vat) with the Dual Fuel discount of £15 remains as-is. I am guessing that this new Online Energy Saver tariff will be immune from price rises for a few months as well.
However has anybody looked at what is happening in some of the PES areas (particularly 13, 14, 15 and 23 .. I think) .. he said knowingly
The question is .. is this a response or the start of a price war?

I have only just changed from a meter reading to redang my own for the £15 discount. I wonder if its now £45 whether I can get that instead.0

I found Scottish Power Online Energy Saver which is £90 cheaper than Scottish Power Online Energy - Standard that I currently have. I just entered a rough figure based on 12 monthly payments of £70.0

You must be one of the lucky ones in one of the PES areas I listed (the online discount has been increased from £15 to a whopping £90 plus on top of that you still get the £15 Dual Fuel discount giving £110 discount (inc. vat).

Plus the Quidco cashback ?0 -
I only based the £90 on the savings according to simplyswitch comparisons site. I am unfortunately at present not getting that saving, I am sceptical of comparison sites anyhow, as some are often inaccurate or they have favourite companies, or keep most of the cashback which some companies give. I only used a comparisons site the other week and it wasn't as much as £90 saving although they didn't show the new deal Scottish power have.0
