Your best OS find this year??

Hello, Now that the year is closing; just wondering what your favourite tip or discovery has been this year? Mine to kick off has to be the pulley which has dried all my washing overnight without resorting to the dryer which eats electricity...Mx

    In the past i would often bin them, but this year i've made a big effort to stretch ingredients and to be honest have eaten better than many times in the past.

  • My local farm shop (well local as in a 15 min drive but it's still close enough!). Their produce it mostly local and far better quality than the supermarkets. Have embraced the concept of dirty potatoes as they last much longer!
    Plus finding this board - got loads of tips from here so thanks to you all!

    OS ways are brilliant. Learning to just use what is in the store cupboard and keep away from the supermarket where temptations and BOGOFS lurk

    How much my electric bill went down when I stopped using the dishwasher and used the tumble dryer less often (hardly used the dryer at all in the summer).

    - Stardrops! (have used since 2007 but still great)

    - Boots 75% off sale (bought birthday & Xmas pressies for the whole of 2008)

    - washing at 30 degrees
    I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
  • My best OS find this year has been the 'Five OS Pleasures in your Day' thread on this board. It is so positive and has made me look at even the most mundane chores and realise that many of them are in themselves blessings.

  • First finding this place...keeps me quiet for hours!

    Biggest OS change so far is washing soda and less detergent.

    Biggest non OS thing is cash back and survey sites !!

    For 2009 will be more home baking (I hope)

  • Mastering my SC! Suddenly I have my evenings back when I am working, plus my food bills go down, as I have been able to use cheaper cuts of meat.

    Installing our coal heater in the house.
    The warmth is much more cozy than the central heater and it's much much cheaper.
