Default 250 mins, 100 texts and £120 Cashback

WARNING! Update Thursday 3 December 2008. Top cashback has just informed us that Vodafone has just dropped the cashback on this deal to £50, with immediate effect. You also need to keep the contract for eight months instead of four. Hence this deal is no longer worth it. Well done to those who grabbed it while it lasted.

What's this all about?

Grab a Vodafone Sim-only deal via cashback website TopCashback* before Sunday and it's currently promising a whopping £120 cashback.

By using this it means you can effectively get eight months worth of mobile usage for free - and then simply cancel.

What's the deal?

The cheapest tariff you can get in order to receive the cashback is the £15/month deal. This gives you 250 anytime minutes talktime and 100 texts.

Technically you only need to be registered a minimum of four months. So cancel once the four months are up and you'll be quids in...£60 quids in to be precise. However equally you could simply use the Sim for eight months and the cashback would've covered the monthly fee.

Of course though you will pay for any calls on top of this.

How the cashback works

This isn't the same type of cashback as is often offered with mobile companies, with those you need to jump through hoops to get it. This is via specialist cashback sites that list retailers and product providers.

They get paid by the retailers if you click through them, but importantly, they then give some or all of this cash to you, provided you've registered with it, which is free. For a full explanation read the details Top Cashback Sites guide.

How to get the cash
  • Step one. Get a cashback account

Simply go to cashback site Topcashback*, login and search for Vodafone. If you don't have an account with it you'll need to get one. It's free to sign up.
  • Step two. Sign up for an Vodafone contract

Next, click 'SIM only' (along the top of the page) and sign up for a SIM only plan of at least £15/month.
WARNING! Cashback sites payouts aren't 100% guaranteed

As cashback sites rely on the retailers paying them, you can never count cashback as a sure thing until it's in your bank account. And occassionally there are tracking problems too. So you need to be prepared for that eventuality. THis is a specially arranged deal though - so the likliehood is things should be fine, though it isn't certain.

If you're a first time cashback site user, please do read the full Best Cashback Sites article for a full explanation of the pros and cons.

Guessing its 1 per address, would be a nice little £120 between 2 people and seperate accounts.

Some caution if you do not 'need' this offer, when quidco and vodafone rang a similar offer lots of people never got thier 'cashback'.

I'll be doing this tonight from home, I'm on a public computer at the moment so I'd worry about the tracking. I've just joined TopCashback though.

My current Vodafone deal is also £15 per month but I only get 125 minutes and 100 texts - so I will get double the amount of minutes. will ring them up later to cancel, as I've fulfilled my 18 month contract.

Many thanks to the OP.

This looks like a good deal and I have just signed up for one but where is the condition that you have to be registered for 4 months to qualify to be found ? The Vodafone site only says that you have to give 30 days notice to end the contract on a sim only £15 a month deal

Can anybody see a reason why we couldn't link the cashback offer with one of the online offers in the Vodafone site:
http://shop.vodafone.co.uk//latest-deals/
I've had a browse but I cannot see any T&C that would not allow this

From Topcashback site: "This offer will be subject to a 4 month validation period."

On other cashback sites, the same 4 month period applies (although they are not offering the same high cashback at the moment)

Default Expiry Date

I get the monthly emails from TopCashback and they say
"We are thrilled to be able to offer an Exclusive £120 cashback on Vodafone Contracts, Mobile Broadband and Sim-Only deals from today until midnight on the 7th November."

7th November has already passed, probably just a typo. Anyone know when this deal finishes??

so you would have to wait the four months before the £120 would be paid into your account?

Ends on the 7th December make sure if your keeping your number to NOT dial your network for your PAC code with a 0870 number as it will cost you a fortune, use saynoto0870.com to find the freephone 0800 number instead

Any reason why the £10 deal doesn't work for this?

Yep but you would need to ring them and ask them to transfer it over, however since your just changing your contract to PAYG with the same company it shouldn't be a problem 0800 776655 is the number for Vodafone PAYG services if you want to check.

Thumbs down No No No!!!

TCB are totally useless i am afraid. i have bad experience with them. i had done everything as recommended by them i even did 'TEST TRACKING' before ordering my mobile contract. now after 3 months i am still waiting. not tracked or validated,,,,,,,,
TCB say i simply have to wait may take 'MONTHS' no guarantee.
i would not bother with them.
it is likely you will end up paying to vodafone and never get your cashback!!
you have been warned!!
sorry but had to warn others,,
as martin says,,,,not 100% garanteed.

one problem that people like myself have with these offers is that SIM only deals are also credit checked like monthly contracts even though they run month to month. This means we cannot take the offer and these companies discriminate against us for money problems we had nearly 6 years ago and in some cases the defaults are unlawful anyway as DCAs mess about.

this applies to a lot of people on this site who are here because of debt problems and one unfortunate part of this is defaults etc.

Default Topcashback Vodafone deal

way i see it - it's a gamble. If you took out say, 3 of these, you stand to make 180 quid if you cancel after 4 months. you also stand to lose 180 quid if TCB don't cough up. Odds seem a lot more hopeful than buying a lottery ticket however. Go on -have a Xmas flutter I say!
