Tesco Internet Saver - Cheque sent for ages

Hello,
I have applied for this Internet Saver around a month ago. On 31st October I finally received a welcome letter with the same details I had already provided them to sign up and setup a Direct Debit. I signed everything and filled out the Direct Debit + a cheque for £5001 and sent it to them on 5th November.
Until today the money has not been taken from my current account. I have no customer number or anything I could call up and ask for status. Is it normal that it takes sooo long?
According to them if they have received the application until Nov 12th, then the club points will be considered, but what exactly is the application? Is it the internet online application I've done in October or is it the actual form I had to sign and send them back? Which seems to not yet even processed by them?
Any comments please?
Thanks
Houman

I have same problem with TPF - cheque has not been cleared for ages!
Does mean RBS is going to collapse soon - as TPF is owned by RBS?Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0 -
Exactly the same problem with Birmingham Midshires fixed bond - cheque sent some time ago, well before their announced last date, still not cashed so sitting in my 'not very good interest' current account.0

I set my acc up about a month ago with a chq for £100 thinking I could send the rest electronically before end November for the clubcard vouchers. The cheque has been banked but I cant believe how long it is taking for an internet acc. I have had no emails all postal paperwork. The cheque is cleared but I still cant access online as sign up process is not yet complete.
Signed up online - you can only pay in via chq or tesco account.
Got paperwork so sent chq.
Got letter in mail re online banking, went on to sign up but can only input name, address clubcard number before having to print a form and mail back to them to verify signature.
Cheque has been banked.
This is as far as I have gotten in about 4 weeks so I wont be getting the vouchers and looks like the rate dropped yesterday to 6% inc. bonus. Am beginning to wonder if this account will even be fully operational before the end of the bonus period!!!!0 -

You should have received the account no and sort code before having to go through the online registration palaver (it is farcical, I have never experienced anything like it!). You can make a BACS payment with these details before having registered to view/use the account.0 -
Tesco still haven't cashed my cheque or given me my account number and sortcode so I guess I won't be able to get the bonus clubcard points on 30th?0

I applied online on the 11th, received paperwork and posted back cheque for £5k on Saturday 15th Nov (very quick turnaround there)
Today the cheque has been debited from my account but I'm worried now that they won't have 'cleared' funds in time for the 30th....
Hopefully I should be able to argue my case to them since I stuck to all their rules about opening the account and I couldn't have physically sent the payment any faster!
Unfortunately I am just going to look like a bonus-bagger since I need to take that £5000 out againby mid January and judging by other posts on here it might be touch and go whether I can jump through all their hoops in time!!0 -

I sent my cheque (£1) on the 17th and the money was taken out of my A&L account today. Having not yet received my account number and sort code, I phoned up Tesco Personal Finance (01413088028) and was told by customer service that they have extended the deadline by another 4 weeks. As long as you deposit money into the account after you have received the account details, then you will still receive the bonus clubcard points. However, I get the dreaded feeling that I'll have to chase up Tesco admin once I have received my February statement. Wish I put down £5000 on my cheque :wall:
Hope this information is helpful. If anyone else got told the same, then please back-up!"If you have much, give of your wealth; if you have little, give of your heart"0 -
I sent my application on 27th October and by 20th Nov cheque still hadnt been cashed. I received a letter asking me for additional identification and at this point I had had enough. the money was in my current account and earning very little interest. I would have been happy to send additional identification with the cheque but not 3 weeks later. I called them and they did call back , my cheque was returned as requested by registered post the next day after my long rant .
For theclub card points it just wasnt worth it. I have never experienced so much hastle opening an account.0 -
Two months ago we decided to open a Tesco email account at the advertised 6.5%. Well good job I only sent a cheque for £10 with the intention of moving 50k in when the account was up and running because 5 weeks later, lots of calls and emails they still hadn't opened it up saying there were delays. I told them to shove it eventually luckily I just managed to get a fixed rate immediate access 6.25% over 50's account with the Coventry just before they pulled it. Tesco could have cost me a lot of cash. (And their account is variable except the bonus bit)
TESCO WAS ALMOST A NIGHTMAREHello,

Finally they have cleared my cheqeue 2 weeks ago. but the whole nightmare is still coming for most of you people.
Once they clear the cheque, you receive within next few days a single page letter about an Account number and sort code and they say you have now to register online.
There is no direct website for Internet Saver, after a long time searching, i found a Register button. Repeatedly I got a registration site opened into my face that demanded a Customer nr. But I had no Customer Number. Eventually I found a Register Button under a different Category that let me to go through with Sort code and Account number.
THEN they asked me to print a another page sign it and send it back to them, so that the internet account can be opened. All that was after 18th November, I still dont know if I would qualify for the points.
So I sign it and send it to them. Today I received another letter with a Registration Nr. Yuhuuu I thought and went to continue my registration. The Finance website is again different than the steps they describe in the letter. They simply dont match. After another search&destroy mission, I realized whenever I try to Login to be asked for Registration Nr, I am asked instead for a Customer Nr part one and Part two. I remember my PIN code and password but I never set a Customer Nr. Clicking on Forgotten Customer Nr, asked me for more details + the actual Registration Nr, which then gave me my Customer Nr and I could finally see my 5000 quid standing on the screen.
Its freaking madness what these people call a bank account. The worst hassle I had so far to open an account. Hopefully I get the points after all this....0
