Mum of 4... ss recieved - plans look superb, I can't believe how organised you are!!! can I ask some questions please?
How big is your veggie plot? (this is pure nosiness!!!! lol! )
Do you have a list of how many plants you plant of each type per sqm? I always end up growing far more than I actually need (and hence give loads away)
I have a plan of my space so I really must sit down and make some planting plans! Are you quite fixed to your plan and clearing beds ready for next crop as indicated on the plan that month?0 -
This would be ideal for our allotment plan but I do not have excel and do not know how to pm you either.0

It's actually 90ft long (the front isn't shown on the plan as i have manure and a row of painted tyres in that area). I also have another area on the plot next to mine that I'm always offered the use of by a really kind man and that's about 11 x 8 ft but as i don't like to assume i will get the use of this i just plant whatever i need to there. At home I grow stuff in pots and have an area of 10ft x 16ft which i can protect from the chickens.
All in all i guess it would be about the same area of a 10 rod plot. Part of the plot is undercover so i can make massive use of the height this summer i had cherry tom's in hanging baskets and trailing around the roof bars i had three cucumber plants, squash and a melon.
Winter onions i would expect to put at least 100 sets in to assume some failures. Spring sown onion sets at least 300 with about 50 - 100 shallots.
garlic i expect to plant 60 cloves. spring cabbage 20, 30 swedes, 2 courgettes, tom's 40 -50 plants, peas i've allowed enough room for my 2300 pea seeds and if i've misjudged the space I will sow/plant later iun the year in another area. carrots i just sow and sow, i allow space for them and sow them to fill gaps i also do this with beets too. Beans - 40 purple french beans and 40 runner beans, 20 borlotti, 20 dwarf and this year i have some yello waxy type beans that someone has sent me.
Parsnips i just sow as many as i can as they are tough to predict on success this year doesn't look to bad I say i'm going to end up with a good few kg's already pulled some early ones.
Squash - i sow about 10 plants aiming to get at least 5/6 good strong plants to get 2/3 good fruit from each. Sow several melon seeds to get to good plants.
Leeks that are a love of mine at least 100 plants. Can't grow calabrese am going to give it another go this year. or caulflowers with much success but can grow the sprouting broccoli and would have at least 10 summer sprouting and 10 -15 spring plants
Josh i hope the above helpsKind Regards

I try to stick to it only because with having to take my toddler with me when i go to the plot in the week i need to be very focused in what has to be done. When ever i have a bit of spare space i'll sow extra carrots, beetroot or even spinach. The plan is also about keeping one step ahead, having the next crop treading to plant/sow when i harvest and clear a bed - to really make use of the space.
I started with just my garden and you'll be amazed at what you harvest from just a couple of pots and raised beds.
A also have dotted around the plot some flowers to attract the bee's.Kind Regards

Thank you mum of 4 for emailing your plans. It all looks so organised! It will be a great start for my new veggie plot.
