I'm a bit of an OS newbie and am soo amazed by all that you're achieving Maz...your family are so lucky!!

that's such a nice thing to say - thank you very much.

It's starting to dawn on me what i'm actually doing. All the meals for this week I planned because i know i don't need any extra ingredents but as the weeks past it's going to take abit of creative thinking.

I'm keeping a diary as one of my friends said this morning 'keep a diary with some recipe info and budgets and i'll buy it off you if you pull it off' so i'm going to keep her to that.
    Kind Regards
    Maz

well done on the meal plan looking good. Jamie has a Fish Pie recipe with his new Ministry of Food Series don't know if it is the same one as in his other book (if not recipe is on channel 4 website for series). I bought book today, had a quick flick through and looks good. Simple family recipes with basic ingredients will have a look through and see if any recipes that you have ingrediants for. Also have you tried making lamb burgers with lamb mince, they are lovely. I just add a bit breadcrumbs and some cheap mint jelly. I usually make lamb burgers one day and with leftover lamb mince make a sheppards pie for next day. Also make lamb kofta type burgers with pitta breads for a change.

Good luck with challenge and will keep reading

Oh thanks for the website tip, i've found the fish pie recipe in the book but i'll stick checkout the website.

lamb kofta burgers are a great idea i've made them before with a mint type sauce/dip and the children loved them so i'll include them a couple of times over the 6 months.

    Hi mum of 4.

I am doing something similar to yourself, I stockpiled and started my 6 months in June . I spent about £250, I also had a contingency pot of £100 for any extras/bargains that I needed to buy. Like you I grow my own veggies and some fruit, on smaller scale than you though. I also make my own bread, cakes, biscuits, jams, chutneys, yoghurt, quark and cook from scratch. there are 3 adults in my household and so far it is working really well - i have plenty stores left and think it will be quite easy to manage the rest of the year, we eat well, have between 5 -10 portions of fruit and veg daily, and make the most of homegrown veggies and foraged fruit etc. There are a couple of us doing a stockpile challenge over on the live on £4000 thread on the dfw board:D
I have just taken over half a huge allotment so more veggies planned now too. Would be interested in seeing your planting ideas if you wouldn't mind - need some suggestions to get started.
Good luck on the rest of your challenge:D
