And you did all that in store? Blimey! I wouldn't have the guts to get all that. Well done though!:T
  • I would use the change to buy some more frozen meat, veggies and maybe a big bottle of multivitamin pills.
    Buy for value not cost.

one thing that i might regret is buying the flour in bulk due to flour mites (or whatever they are called) Trouble is flour is set to go up in price so i think i'm going to have to find out about freezing flour. or maybe will have to buy less
    Kind Regards

I've read of putting your flour into airtight containers to stop the weevils. (how ever you spell it!) just done a quick search for you and found this:

    might help!

Actually is was easy. I think it was because it was actually only about 25 different products, i just bought a lot of each. Armed with my list i only went down the isle i needed to and i made a point of taking no money so i had to stick to the list as i knew i had enough on the gift cards.
    Kind Regards

    :T Excellent :T
I'm loving this thread lol now thats what I call a decent shop :D

I reckon you could probably squeeze a few extra meals out of both the chickens and the mince if you use your veg to 'bulk out' things like spag bol etc. and use the chicken scraps and carcasses for chicken stock/soups plus a few more veggies.
Glad your store had the big bags of sugar ours keep running out of those and to get them on the reduced bit...I'm dead jealous lol...

I'd love to see a pic of your storecupboard now it might be nearly as bad as mine :o :rotfl:

    Well done!!! :D

at the moment all the meat is in the 2 fridge's, i've got old book cases 4 shelves to each along one in our garage so i've put the pasta, B/beans,washing up liquid, squash, toilet rolls and b/bath in the garage. i tough maybe i could put some stuff like suger ontop of my wall units, never use that space.

Freezing to do - i was going to divide the mince into 400g portions and put them in sealable freezer bags and once frozen in a container (as suggested) to form a stackable shape i was going to put say the mince in a cool bag or this a bad idea?
    Kind Regards

:D Nothing wrong with using space thats not in use :D I've got PG tips on top of ours :o:o

I'd love to have a garage for storage, the shelving system sounds ideal.

Re the flour I bought some cheap lidded stackable boxes from Wilkinsons and after freezeing transferred the packets into these for double insurance against any wee beasties ;)
Don't decant the sugar as I find in store it tends to go clumpy if taken out of the bags before use.
If you have room keep an eye out on Freecycle for those wooden rack things, many people get rid of those but they are ideal for food storage :D
