Hi
A quick question for anyone in the know. I want to practice 'virtual trading' - that is not for real, just having a go and seeing if i can learn something. The challenge i have right now is that i wish to pick some companies from 3 sectors that i've chosen.......i cannot find a list of companies divided by sectors anywhere...
I've tried Sharewatch...
Anyone understand? Anyone know where i might find lists of companies divided up by their sectors?
thanks for listening

Thanks Cheerfulcat and Unkle
Unkle i will have a look at that site in a day or two as i have some time off work then. Cheerfulcat, looks like i have a lot of reading ahead, thanks again for the resource!
I have a quick question. I currently receive some housing benefit, not a lot as i work full time and hopefully it won't be long as my salary is about to go up. However, in the meantime, how would investing in the stock market affect one's eligibility for benefit?
If anyone knows i'd be interested. I'm not looking to make money without telling the housing people, I don't operate that way. I just thought of it tonight. My thoughts are that whilst practicing....or in the early stages of investing, if one lost housing benefit it could just make someone financially worse off. At the same time i totally believe that if someone is doing well and has made considerable sums on the stock market then they should not receive benefit.
Anyone know how this would work? This is all theory right now, but i'm curious.
Thanks for any responses0 -

Hey Cheerfulcat
thanks for that site, i've just started reading and printing some stuff off for the train tomorrow. lol!
One thing i would ask, i seem to have done a LOT of reading over the last 6-7 months....and still not sure what to do re investing (partly this is lack of money though). Can i ask would you say this is usual?
I don't want to still be reading stuff in a year's time and not acting......unless of course this is advisable. It's such a huge subject.
Do you mind me asking if you have invested in the stock market? I guess from your posts that you have. I'd love to hear about your experiences.
Thanks again

I may pop and have a look at the 'practice' web site. I would love to invest but do not have the time to watch the markets. I think to make big money you need access to the market quickly. Hearing about something in the morning but not buying/selling till afternoon, could cost you dear...
