Free A2 size Epson print

Ok guys let me clarify what they mean with picture dpi and dimensions..
First of all, you can 't take a photo of your dog with your 3 mega pixel camera and then expect a A2 size print.
All cameras take images at 72 dpi but at different sizes.
The images epson is talking about are ones taken professionally with a professional camera - to produce a HIRES Image of 300 dpi at size meaning at for instance A3.
This image you can then blow up to A2 or A1 MAX The DPI (Dots per Inch) reduces the more the image is stretched.
Everything under 150 DPI is too bad for print as it pixelates - meaning that the image becomes blocky. - bad quality for you and you think epson has bad printers - bad unjustified publicity for them, thats the reason they reject so many images..
So to get a image to work for them you need to measure dimensions in Photoshop.
Open your image and click on
Image - Image Size -there you can see the properties of your image like dimensions and DPI
remember anything under 150 will be rejected AT SIZE
reducing the print size increases the DPI.
The image im posting this week is 78 megabytes and that the right dimension for A2 so they shouldnt reject it
Also if you submit a photo that wont fit on A4 or A3 or A2 then they might reject it too cause there is alot of time and efford involed in resampling images.
You can get a image scanned professionally but scanning it at 1200 dpi on your home scanner will not give great results. You need to have it professionally scanned at a reproduction house or scanned from a transparancy photo,,
Anyyyyyway hope this wasnt to technical!!
but look at it this way you can never expect a 3 meg photo to print at a2 no matter how you look at it!
Not really rue, i took a picture of my daughter using a 2megapixel camera and then used photoshop7 to increase the image size to a2
The a2 print i recived from Epson, is not blocky or pixelated, in fact it is damn near prefect, you have to get really close and squnit to see any pixels on the print.
To increase the size in photoshop
Pick Image ---> image size
This will bring up a window, from this window you can change the image size and the resolution,
I used 300 dpi for the resolution
and 420mmx594mm 2976x4209 pixels with bicubic for the resample image
This will make the image look well bigger on your screen, coz it is only being display at 72 dpi.
Just save a s a psd file with the rgb icc profile, should be between 200-300 megs
Hope that this helps

Actually what that your doing here is asking photoshop to increase the photo's resolution with dots that it does not have / or exists
So what photoshop does (brilliant program) is it uses your image and ghosts or clones pixels to make the image bigger and the result is not ideal to the untrained eye..
the picture will not be as sharp or as crisp as it should be and you would definately see some blurring and hazyness although not too much I wouldnt think.
Quoted from Photoshop help:
Resampling refers to changing the pixel dimensions (and therefore display size) of an image. When you downsample (or decrease the number of pixels), information is deleted from the image. When you resample up (or increase the number of pixels), new pixels are added based on color values of existing pixels. You specify an interpolation method to determine how pixels are added or deleted
Keep in mind that resampling can result in poorer image quality. For example, when you resample an image to larger pixel dimensions, the image will lose some detail and sharpness. Applying the Unsharp Mask filter to a resampled image can help refocus the image's details
But it does still work and will keep epson happy!0 -
