WOW - thanks for your posts - I have something to be going on with now. Really like the idea of serving it with pasta, and perhaps instead of an omlette making a quiche that we could have for lunch tomorrow.

Dannahaz, I followed the instructions for cooking to the letter - perhaps because we dont add salt to anything whilst cooking our taste buds are a little bit sensitive than most, but thanks for your input also.

Chop it up and pan fry with shredded savoy cabbage, a little onion and some diced boiled potatoes. Absolutely delicious!

I love cold gammon sliced served with mash and mushy peas or pease pudding.

Or sliced cold in sarnies/rolls with pickles or similar.

Could you use some in a pea and ham or someother type of soup to stretch it further?

Oh, I just lurve gammon. :o

  • I just like it sliced into steaks and grilled with a pineapple ring on top.

  • We had a gorgeous ham joint today and have quite a bit left.... Any ideas what I can do with it. I am trying to make as much out of it as I can.

I have already made four portions of tomato sauce with this added to it so that i can pour over pasta for lunches. :D

    Thanks

Ham and potato cakes, Yum. Mix mashed potato with ham and wilted spinach (squeeze water out of spinach before you add it) Gently fry without oil over a medium heat in a non stick pan for about 4-5 mins each side. Delicious with a poached egg on top.

    Hi sickofhavingnomoney,

There's an older thread that has some good ideas on it so I've added your thread to it to keep all the suggestions together.

If you like comfort food try this....you can use chopped fried bacon but works just as well with chopped leftover gammon....

fry some onion and the bacon if you are using bacon...
Make up some suet pastry.. 6oz pl fl, 3oz suet.. roll out the pastry then spread the onion and bacon/gammon over the pastry and roll up like a swiss roll . Loosly wrap in foil leaving some folded over at top for expansion.. they place in a large saucepan fill with water till it comes about halfway up the foil and simmer for about 40mins... make sure you keep checking the water hasn't boiled away...

Slice and serve with your favourite veg and gravy its soooooooo delicious...
