  • Hi Guys,

Just found this board and been inspired by all the help and support.

I've set up on SW online with my progress chart and food diary and I'm off.

Thank you for the password as well.

Just starting today and going to weigh every Tuesday morning.

I'm fed up going to classes and paying people to tell me what I know.

I also know that some people need the weekly weigh in to keep them on the straight and narrow.

I lost 3 and half stone 13 years ago and did a few interviews with local papers and promised to keep it off but after 10 years piled it all back on. So I keep losing the same 3 stone over and over again and need to stop the yoyo.

I've started to walk a circuit round my village from this Monday (3 miles), every night so hopefully that will help. Don't do running due to athritis and painful knees but I'm sure the walking will make a difference.

I want to lose approx 2 stone.

But got my holidays soon (12 May for 2 weeks)!

Glad to be joining a lovely bunch of people on my way to a slimmer healthier me.

    Cheers

    Debs

Welcome Debs, the walking is definitely good and hopefully you will lose a few pounds in a couple of weeks, enjoy your hols and then back with it when you get home.

    Going anywhere good?
    I haven't got one!
  • Thanks Cheekymole for the welcome, :T

I did wonder whether it was worth starting before the hols but every little helps and you have all been posting great stories even when you haven't lost the weight.

I'm off to Los Gigantes as a friend has a lovely apartment in the hills there. I noticed you or someone else mentioned it in an earlier thread.

We tend to go there as a chill out holiday at least once a year as we know everywhere around it and go elsewhere for our main one.

    Cheers

We've just got back from tenerife (Sunday) and had a fab, relaxing holiday, weather lovely too which is always an added bonus! My daughter mithered to go to Los Gigantes while we there but we never got around to it (we have been before).

Enjoy, eat in moderation and drink LOADS!

Well done JenItells! and thanks for the welcome and the encouragement. Thanks to Rachie77, and also to honey28 for putting me on the e-mail thingy! Enjoy your hols Debras Angel, great advice cheekymole - I always drink loads!! My warmest welcome to the other newbies - there seems to be a lot of new members just now - is it because the sun has started to appear more often and people are thinking "oh no it's almost time for me to have to start taking my jacket/cardigan off in public and I can't!"? (that's just how I feel!).

Not sure what happened to me really, JenItells - a combination of events, Christmases, etc, where I put on weight and then couldn't find the will to get it off. And nibbling. And getting a full-time job last summer. When I get home from work I'm tired and starving (like everyone else) and nibble before and during preparing the dinner! And then I get stuck into a bottle of wine!! I also think that when I stopped going to class I fell back in to my greedy ways. But not entirely coz I never have sugar in drinks or fry food (unless it's a take-away!!) and I still use Fry-light etc. I lost nearly 5 stone, so I kept 3 stone of it off but put 2 back on!

You're right JenItells, SW is great and has some tasty recipes. I got the books out yesterday, at last. Thanks for the password Loopylass30. The SW plan is nothing like Atkins. I'm a veggie and practically all I can eat on Atkins is eggs and cheese! SW has tons of yummy fruit & veg & beans, pasta, rice, etc. Green days are not boring and you're allowed more food than on the red days!

Just like you, Ghost I feel every one of the pounds that I put back on. I feel like humpty dumpty just now. I keep seeing all the small clothes I used to wear every time I open the wardrobe! But it's no use kicking ourselves. We're in the best pace here and I feel really inspired by the lovely atmosphere and encouragment from everyone. :T

I think it's the toughest time when you first start on a weight loss plan and have to admit that it's obvious that you're bigger than you were and you really must summon up the will to be self disciplined again. Especially when you haven't lost any weight yet or it's too early to physically see the results of your efforts. I think I need to swap the comfort of eating with the feelings of virtuousness that come from enjoying being in control of my eating. I'm looking forward to the day when I can go into a clothes shop actually wanting to try on clothes (and not running past with my eyes shut). Oh the joy of not knowing what size you are COZ YOU'RE SMALLER THAN YOU WERE LAST TIME YOU WENT IN (instead of bigger!) and you pick up something that you know wont fit you coz it's too small AND IT DOES!! These feelings are better than over-eating and feeling fat - we just need to get our determined heads back on! We've done it before and we can do it again! :)

    Hi,
Back from my weigh in - and for my first week I have lost 5lbs!!! I am so chuffed I can't stop grinning! I am seriously motivated but have such a tough 2 weeks coming up with lots of nights out, people over for meals and 2 nights away in Spain with work - staying in hotels ..... need to remember this feeling and box it away somewhere for when I need motivation or restraint (probably much more likely!!)!
Thanks for all the lovely welcomes, it is nice to find a bunch of people who all seem quite normal and real (might be wrong ;-)!!) trying to get to the same place!
Good luck to everyone this week and remember, gin is less points than wine on SW so you can have more!!! :-)
Misguided maybe, but never really bad!! :A

Great post redmandarin. I'm off to marks and spencers tonight to try and see what fits me at the moment as i'm hoping to have a job interview soon (i probably won't buy anything in case i don't get the interview but just want to see what they've got in at the moment) so i hope i'll be able to find something. My work trousers are definately getting to be too loose but i don't want to buy too many clothes yet! I'm also wearing a belt with my jeans :D

Congrats on your first fantastic loss Yatesy - just do your best in the next couple of weeks and look forward to getting back into it properly when things calm down! Try not to use syns when you can so that they're all saved up for the nights out and the rich hotel food.

My curry feast book (and the saucy secrets book) is being delivered on tuesday (only time i'll be in to collect). Can't wait to try making some korma and onion bajjis SW style. My mouth is watering thinking about it!
