No extra pounds in November

Just back from a weekend break.
Please sign me up Dragon for November starting at 11-6lb.0 -
Well I weighed myself this morning and I was 15st 13.5lb eeek nearly 16 stone all but 1/2 a pound. Got to get my but in gear to lose 7lb this month. Today I have been finishing off bits that I have in the house like 1/4 of a cheesecake and some prebought coronation chicken.
I listened to my Paul McKenna CD last night and will do so again tonight. I will buy the books that go alongside it at the weekend and get stuck into it 100% then.
I have eaten less today albeit things I have been trying to use up so fingers crossed it works.0 -
Well, an update from me. After some mystery pounds and some other medical hiccups (ongoing issues) I bit the bullet and reported to the doctor what was happening. I'm in hospital this week for a thyroid scan, and next week back for some other stuff (last month got dismal, was at doctors for one thing or another every week/twice a week, plus my regular appointments.
)
Doctor has promised something will change next week to help me: regardless of the course of the problem (thyroid or other stuff).
I'm still feeling really positive about it all. Last week I did get a bit down and stopped walking so much. Then on the Friday I went for a treally good fast walk with a coupke of horses, by force of necessity rather than choice, and the horses were being naughty and difficult and I had to be quite swift, and by the time I'd finished I was sweaty and a bit tired, and then, about twenty minuted later those exercise endorphins kicked in, and I remembered how GREAT it feels after doing enough work to raise heart rate and actually sweat. Its so hard to remember while doing exerise how great you'll feel afterwards!
Other news, my little runabout car has died leaving me just DH's car, so I'll be doubly vigilant against lazy short journeys: its a beast to run!0 -
Hello Losers!

Well done Posh
lir - glad to hear you're feeling more positive and fingers crossed that the doc can find something for you next week that works!
Maisie - this might sound like a stupid question but how does the Paul McKenna thing work? Is it just motivational books/cds or are there any specific diet rules to follow?0 -
I weighed in at 11st 7lb on the wii-fit earlier today, so that's my starting weight for the month.
Bronnie - I've been seriously considering going back to WW too. Have you decided yet?

Hi Nicky, I need a morning class and have just been checking the ww website. There's one tomorrow and one on Thurs locally, so I think I will join. I'm not a big fan of staying to class, but somehow it does focus me and keep me on track. I definitely need a bit of structure and a change from the SW plan I've been dipping in and out of over the last few years. Don't know much about it except for counting ppoints, but a change of regime and a pre-christmas blitz might do me good!0 -
Well October started well I really thought Id do the 7lb for the first time ever but well, the month fizzled out with me just the 4lb down again.
Still, another month. I bought a little second hand twist and step machine from my local charity shop yesterday. It nearly kills me after a minute or so and Im a bit scared of falling backwards. There is a little screen telling you how much time youve been on it, how many steps and how many calories youve burnt. It takes 11 steps to lose one calorie pmsl.0 -
Hi folks! Well, re-joining the 'losers' spurred me on to make some pumpkin soup. It is delish and really filling so I thought I'd post the recipe....
1 medium sized pumpkin (about 1500g) 390 cals
3 medium onions (64 cals each) 192 cals
2 apples (gala 84 cals each) 168 cals
2 Kallo veggie stock cubes 16 cals
1 heaped tsp cumin powder 5 cals
1 level tsp ground ginger 3cals
One cal olive oil 2 cals
1 tbsp olive oil 120 cals
Total cals for huge pan - 896 (plus milk, see below)
Method
Cut pumpkin in half and remove seeds and stringy stuff. Give each open half a squirt of one cal olive oil and a sprinkle of sea salt bake in oven at gas 6 for about 45 mins. Remove and cool. (will keep in fridge if you want to do this bit in advance)
Peel and chop onions and apples heat 1 tbspn olive oil in pan and gently sweat down onions and apples (be careful with the olive oil it is high in cals!)
Dissolve stock cubes in about 1 litre of water.
Remove pumpkin pulp from skin and cut into cubes, add to onion & apples and cover with stock. Add ginger and cumin. Gently simmer for about 20 mins (add more water if necessary). Blitz with stick blender, cool and store in fridge.
At this stage the soup is very thick more like a puree.
To serve, put desired quantity in saucepan, add milk (I like soya milk as it makes a really creamy rich soup) and heat gently, but don't boil. Remember to calorie count the milk (200 mls soya milk is 84 cals).
This soup is really filling and I found that after having a bowl for lunch, I ate a lot less for my evening meal. Also, when I got the munchies in the evening, I had another bowl and that was great.
I am planning a roast chicken for dinner this evening, so I'll be making chicken and veg soup tomorrow :-)
NOTE - this makes a sweetish spicy soup. If you want to cut down on sweetness and save calories, you can leave out the apples.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -

lol! I don't know anything about WW.
Maybe it is because they are high in fibre and you wouldn't realistically eat a whole pumpkin at one sitting, so the actual cals in a normal serving would be quite low (the recipe makes a huge pan of soup, enough to freeze half and still have enough left for a couple of days' meals).I'm a retired employment solicitor.
