Oh, thats why we are being overcharged, it is not simply gas we are getting through our pipes but German Feenhafter Atem! (Fairy Breath) That is FAR more expensive to produce!

On 1st October 2006 my higher rate increased to 4.265 (excl VAT).
On 30th April 2007 increased again to 4.412 and lower rate reduced from 2.399 to 1.915.

I wonder why your gas was cheaper than mine. I thought the area price differentials weren't introduced until sometime in 2007.

Never mind, I am just happy that their price reduction was a price increase for me and that I was quite correctly overcharged. In fact I probably wasn't over charged enough and may complain that my overcharge was an under over charge causing someone elses' over charge to be over charged by too much! :rotfl:

I have decided to leave Npower and, after doing many comparisons, have decided that Ebico is the best place for my custom.
They don't have discounts, standing charges, sculpting etc,.they only have 1 price for gas & 1 price for electricity all the year round.Their rates were raised at 1st April 2008 but they still come out on top on the comparison sites.
For some reason, you cannot switch using those sites but can do it direct from Ebico's website.
When I get my final bill from NPower I am going to deduct from it the amount I have been overcharged in the last 18 months or so and await their response.

Wise move. Be prepared for a bumpy ride moving from npower. They don't have a poor reputation for nothing and switching for some can be a nightmare. If you dispute a bill they may well block you. One alternative is to pay their bill to effect the switch and try to recover the overpayment by other means. On the other hand the switch may go without a hitch and I hope it does for you.

Bon chance. (Anne could say that in German.)

The reason you can't switch is that Ebico refuse to pay a commission to the comparison websites - another good reason for admiring this non-profit making company!

I would add that Ebico might come out top for you on the comparison websites(presubably because you have low consumption??) but it is not true for most people.

Ebico are good if you are a low to moderate user, if you are an average user they break even to very little more expensive, if you are an average to high user then they will work out to be more expensive. Ebico, will of course take into account their ethics with expected price rises, and I would expect them to either delay, moderate price rice, and if they can, not put it up.

The point where ebico break even is around 17,000 to 20,000 kwh (depending on which tariff/company you are with), the lesser you use, the more saving you make.

If you are single/couple and are working / both working, with no kids, and just use the heating sensibly when you are at home (small to medium sized home), then generally you may only use around 10,000 kwh to 13,000 kwh. If you dont work, and have the same set of circumstances as prior stated including using the heating sensibly you may use around 13,000 to 15,000 kwh. If you are an average family home with kids etc.. then ebico would work out to be more expensive.
  • Would appear on the face of it there are three sculpting systems in use.

Flower Petal is on a flat rate.

Most are on the 1st Nov. sculpt.

I thought I was on that but from March seems to be something different altogether.

Just shows how sophisticated their billing system is. It can no doubt apply an individual custom made sculpt to each and every customer. Now that's what I call billing!

Explains all the different answers you get from the reps. You are not asking to be put through to your Personal Sculpt Adviser, are you?

You've has me doubting myself, dug out my bill see details below:-

    Bill period 17/12/07 - 7/4/08 (113 days)
    First 1403 units @ 3.639
    remaining unit @2.04

4572 divide by 365 days x 113 days = 1415.44 units , which is more than my tier 1 units charged.

I'm on the online duel fuel v8 and no personal sculpt advisor.

Thats correct. If you were on the sculpting profile you would have been charged around 2574 high rate units. I think you should complain:

    a) you haven't been sculpted so they wasted your time on this thread
    b) they never offered to sculpt you when you signed up.

I leave it up to your best judgement.

Ok stand corrected on 112 days but my original post on this thread was in relation to C0113tt3 post#324, after being told I was being sculpted.

Even you questioned my posts, now I've proved I'm not being scuplted you cut me short for posting.

Why don't you just call this thread "we hate npower" because they've scupted in the past, If you're not happy with your supplier just switch.
