Be interested in hearing what kind of deals people are negotiating to include the Family Pack.

I rang them last year adamant I was going to leave, and by the end of the call I was about £20/month better off with a higher BB speed (I was paying £17.99/month for 512kb)!

    I currently pay

    1mb BB £9.99/month
    Family Pack £8.50/month
    Telephone line rental £10.50/month

    Total £28.99/month

These discounts are valid for life but I have to ring up every 12 months to get them put back on.

I rang them earlier to pay my bill and was upgraded to TalkUnlimited24 for nothing. I was also offered 2mb broadband if I paid another £2.50 a month. Both offers valid for three months with a promise of a three-month extension after that.

They also said that in August my TV would probably go up to £9.75/month (ie be half price).

    1) Not sure whether to upgrade to 2mb for the £2.50 - I tried to get her to give it to me for no extra charge, but she was having none of it
    2) Seems like they're happy to give away all the phone calls you can make but are a bit stingy on the TV side

    Any thoughts?

Just been on to NTL and got a pretty good deal, didn't expect anything to be honest, but the girl I spoke too was really nice, was only on hold for about 3 minutes and on the phone for about 10 mins.

    Was on:
    1 meg broadband £9.99
    Base Pack TV
Telephone line rental £15.00 for both
    Total £24.99 a month

    Now I get:
2 meg broadband (going upto 4 meg in June)
    Family Pack TV
Telephone with Talk Unlimited Local & National

Paying the same price as before too but gotta call back in 3 months for broadband and 6 months for TV & telephone.

She did try to offer £12.49 for 2 meg broadand for 3 months but I told her I didn't want to pay any more and as if by magic a discount came up bringing it to £9.99.

I'd say try to be nice to them, but also be firm and stick to your guns. I didn't really have any bargaining tools as I couldn't leave yet if I wanted, so if I can get a much better deal then everyone should give it a go!!

I didn't even ask about the TV side, but looking at #222 when I phone back in 3 months I'm going for the 10meg broadband too!!

10mb is going to be the lowest speed offered by them soon - dunno when the switch is though.

    Good for you getting 2mb at £9.99 - I couldn't!!!

I called again and said I don't really want to leave why did you try and keep me.

Lovely lady said, ok how about £5 off line rental, £5 of talk 24.7 and £5 of internet.

So talk 24.7 and 2mb internet for £24 from £39!! also got free caller reject, call barring, and caller display. For 3 months initially.

Is that a result or what ?
    nothing.

Think i've done pretty well after a dodgy start lol. After phoning 3 times got thru and followed the advice given. Just said i was leaving unless they could beat talk talk.

So they agreed to talk 24, line rental, broadband and i was told that i couldnt not have the base TV pack??(advice please as i was thinking about the digi box but dont mind too much as i have it set up with some free film channels thank to an engineer cough cough ;)). This came to £23 then i mentioned increased broadband and he asked how fast did i want it :O:O lol anyway 10mb agreed for no added cost.

Thanks to all advice, saving a fortune and now onto the next one :D
