They seem desperate for cash at the moment judging by the high Irs they are offering on various accounts.
This is not financial nor legal nor property advice. Consult a paid professional if in doubt.

I only transferred 100.00 into it from a so called "priviledge account", im still awaiting closing balance with 8 years of interest from the transaction. :(
  • Anybody ascertained what the charge would be for any withdrawals beyond the 12 free ones? Yeah, I know I could probably find out by poring through the T+Cs but, hey, that's just me being lazy & I thought somebody may already have found out. (And, of course, I wanted to provide an opportunity for anybody that wants to to slag me off for my laziness!). I'm not intending to withdraw more than 12 times but you never know... Also, anybody found out a SayNoTo0870 number instead of the 0845 number for withdrawals etc.? Yes yes, I know - more laziness.

Only words i have seen is that "only 12 withdrawals are permitted per account year". ;)

Postage paid envelopes and withdrawal/deposit forms are supplied ( Withdrawals are still paid by BACS)

Im not even sure if withdrawal requests can be made via the 0845 no, ill leave that for someone else to confirm as i dont have product literature handy. :o ( Ive seen no mention anywhere of withdrawals being able to be instructed this way, and no telephone security is being set up)

Westbromwich DONT honour applications that are in the post should they close the account to new account openings.

I opened one of these in a branch on 2 Feb, and I mentioned I would probably be opening a Magic8 after my house sale completed, and asked if I could telephone them to do a transfer from the StarEA to magic8 and they said no. I could do a transfer by post or by going to a branch.

I saw mention in "Money Mail" in The Daily Mail today that they apparently CLOSE THE ACCOUNT if you make more than 12 withdrawals. I know you shouldn't believe all you read in the newspapers, but...

And it's interesting to hear that you can't apparently make withdrawals by phone. I'd assumed [and made an a$s of u and me] that being "operated by post or phone" would've meant you could've. But, there ya go.
