If you use the last of those codes for free delivery you will have your order cancelled unless you are a store card holder and spend over £100. It's stupid it doesn't check before you place the order, but this is why orders keep getting cancelled, not because they are out of stock, even if that's what they say. Orders with just the discount codes seem to go through, it's just that free delivery one that seems to get your order cancelled.

Many thanks for the advice - as they deliver to an alternative address, will get my mum to place my order with her card.

Some stores will not give the discount if they are not intended for you and it is written it thier T&C athat they are entitled to charge you full price if you use the codes.. There was another offer on here that that happened with recently (for a phone) but cant remember the company.

Happened with Marshall Ward, but they refunded the difference as they may be entitled to charge you (that's debatable in law I believe) - but they have to notify you how much they intend to charge - if you've agreed to pay, for example £15 for something (andhave printed off an order summary stating this) and they then charge more without advising you of their intention, banks and credit card companies take a dim view and will deal with the matter if a refund is refused (that was my experience with Nationwide and Abbey). I think it's fair do's that they advise the discount isn't applicable - but they should check if the purchaser is prepared to pay the higher amount rather than just charging it to their card.

Have just checked the T & c's available on website and this incidence is not mentioned - they do mention having the right to cancel orders if the price changes and Debenhams are unable to contact the customer to confirm they wish to go ahead - but nothing at all about discount codes. If there is a clause covering discount codes but it's not published online, an online customer could hardly be expected to have read and accepted them- when we tick the box accepting t & c conditions, it applies to those published on the website, I would assume. Meanwhile, I wait with baited breath to see if my order (not for the Dyson) is cancelled!

  • I just went down to Currys yesterday and bought one (DC07 Origin), ok I paid £130 for it but I was there and back again in 20 minutes with the product. No messing about with discount codes, cancelled orders or waiting to see if it will arrive....

It's a bloody good vacuum cleaner by the way....
  • Phoned Debenhams today to confirm order and was told it's on it's way! I'm not a store card holder and used all three codes!!:j Good Luck everyone else in getting theirs! Thanks OP!

Just a warning but I have ordered from Debenhams twice before using discount codes that have been accepted on the order but then I have been charged full price when my statements come through. They take ages to deal with email queries about this and 9 times out of 10 you don't get a refund!!
    You have been warned!!
I placed an order at the weekend and they have charged my credit card with a much higher amount than I authorised when completing the transaction:mad: How can they be allowed to do this? I presume they have removed the discounts but at the moment they are ignoring my emails.

Has anyone manage to get a refund when they do this or should I just cancel the whole order?
