I can confirm that Ulster Bank accept faster payments in, but so far I've never withdrawn from my savings there, can someone confirm if they are able to send them out? You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.0 -

I've ordered the card reader but the message is that it may take 15 days to arrive. So I won't have my cash when I need it!
So, if you sign up, I'd request the card reader straight away so you don't get stuck without access to your cash.

If you have a card reader from another bank, try that one. They all seem to work for each other0 -
You can phone them up to make a withdrawal. You don't need a card and reader (at least for the older eSaver).
No FP in my experience (although another poster has said that they do).
See this thread on withdrawal info: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...tml?p=267078930 -
My wife applied and said she would initially deposit £1. The online site accepted this. But the website says the initial cheque has to be £10,000.
I really don't care if she gets accepted or not, so I'll send them a cheque for £1 and see what happens. If it gets accepted, she'll BACS the money over; if it doesn't, she won't open the account and they can s*d off for being too difficult.
It makes no sense to transfer the £10,000 from a savings account to the current account to earn no interest for a random number of days till the cheque clears, and they shouldn't expect you to do that.0 -

Agree entirely. My wife did the same online - the form came back for signature with both "Pathway Account" and "opening deposit £1" pre-printed. She sent the £1 cheque off on 14th November - no response to date (and the £1 cheque hasn't been presented as yet).0 -
any more issues/opinions on this account?
Thinking about opening one as 3.6% is pretty decent right now.
(seeing as Julian Hodge is only 0.1% better and fixed and something better will hopefully come along in that 6 month period).0 -
Hi All,
Just registered on moneysavingexpert.com & first post is just to confirm opening a Pathway account with Ulster Bank is simple. Interesting to learn from annedonnelley that a card reader is required to withdraw cash, thanks for that.
Quick question - the 3.6% rate is for 6 months, does that literally mean 6 months from the exact day of opening the account, my case 13th Nov, or do you need to wait for the end of the final month for the interest to be made up.
Thanking all in anticipation.0 -
Hi
What information did you give them when you reached the local branch nomination section ?
Typing "Online" wouldn't let me proceed.
Can anyone confirm if this account pays interest monthly ?0 -

When I called them about that , they said they have been advising non N.I based customers to use the Belfast code (head office/branch)

Hi all
I have just received my information about this account and it appears that it does not pay regular interest every month but instead waits to pay annually in October.
Obviously, I am only interested in keeping my savings in this account whilst I can't get a better safe return anywhere else and I would prefer to see the capital grow before the end of next year.
Is it the case that if you shut this account as soon as the beneficial six months of bonus interest expires you are paid back all of your cash and the interest it has earned immediately with no penalties or problems - so you don't have to wait nearly a year from now to profit ?0
