Ok cool, thanks. I think its probably best if I pay it all off and then close the account. Then I can launch the claim knowing that theres nothing they can do to cause her any other problems. Shes quite upset about it all.
Not what we needed at xmas! Especially now, the cat we adopted 4 months ago has been sick since we got her and I think I'm going to have to take her to the vets on friday to do the dreaded deedCould really do without any other hassles at the moment.

I am now in the final stages of a claim against abbey for £2893 for bank charges applied to my account. I have now taken the claim to the small claims court and, going by the responses already posted on this site, expect to recover the charges placed on my account. However, I recently contacted abbey and was told the account had been closed and there was an outstanding £600 on the acount. What i am wondering is if the account is closed how is the likely payment for the claim to be recived fromthe bank (i.e. cheque etc.) and will the bank debit the outstanding balance of account from any settlement? Any information and adviceon thismatter would be appreciated.

hi there, i have already applied to court, am returning my CAQ tomorrow, but, can anyone tell me:
Am i able to calculate interest on the total amount as i didnt initially, and submit this to the court as a complete claim?
I was 16 in 1991 when i opened this account, is this taken into account re "terms & conditions"?
How do I insist on abbey providing a financial disclosure for their administrative costs (as a company) regarding penalties?
As a discharged bankruptee (2004), am i able to still persue lloyds tsb for charges incurred over the 2 years my business existed?
Looks like i am in court in feb/march.
Any advice is most welcome, pls pm me or post here!
Cheers Moneysavers dudes!

You should add the interest when you make the claim, are you saying, you've already submitted the claim and now need to add the interest?I was 16 in 1991 when i opened this account, is this taken into account re "terms & conditions"?
Not sure what you mean by 'taken into account', I think they are still applicable. How do I insist on abbey providing a financial disclosure for their administrative costs (as a company) regarding penalties?
You can only do this if they refuse to pay and want to go to court. It's very unlikely this will happen, so I guess the answer is you can't really. As a discharged bankruptee (2004), am i able to still persue lloyds tsb for charges incurred over the 2 years my business existed?
Other people have claimed for business charges, but the procedure is slightly different.Any advice is most welcome, pls pm me or post here!
You shouldn't have to go to court, they should pay up before the court date. Also Abbey often seem to close accounts, so be ready for this.0 -
Greetings. I could do with some of your advice on reclaiming my bank charges and here's why. I sent of a copy of the template letter from this site with my £10 fee to the data controller for HSBC. They wrote back returning my cheque saying that they would provide me with statements free of charge for the period requested (the last 6 years). So far (within two weeks) I've had 1 duplicate statement from about 2 and a bit years ago. Anyone else experience this? What are they playing at and what should I do next? Thanks in advance.0

Some banks do waive the fee. They still have 40 days in which to comply.
Because of the process they use and the post this time of year, you may find you get them through in batches.
Don't worry unless you don't have everything after 40 days.0 -
hi all,
hope someone can help here - i have a student account with abbey national and use my overdraft pretty much all of the time...
i transferred money from my lloyds account (i.e my wages) and made a switch payment for £4 in a petrol station .. (thinking that the transfer had went through)
unfortunately it hadnt... so went into branch to be informed that there would be :
1) £30 charge for going into unauthorised overdraft
2) £20 charge for the bank authorising a £4 payment..
3) a dd had came off so another £30 charge - total £80
If i write the letters to them to claim the money back will they close the account and demand my overdraft be repaid?
thanks all
p.s they said because i have already have one charge back this year i cant have any more
thanks:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin:staradmin0 -

Check out THIS THREAD post number 4 to see what charges you can claim back. Yes you can include card misuse fees. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?
