  • Hi,

I bought £1200 of Actif Group plc shares who went into administration about three months ago. I contacted the administrators, and they say that DB Actif, and Actif Retail, have been put into administration, and not Actif Group PLC.

They gave me an address for correspondance, and a telephone number. I gave it a call, and the two parts of Actif Group mentioned above have been bought by L Wear Ltd. The person I spoke to from L Wear said that Actif Group had no assets. I don't understand why as they haven't yet gone into administration. The trouble is that Actif Group PLC and L wear both appear to have the same address for correspondence.

As Actif Group PLC have not gone into administration, who is now responsible for my shares? As I see it, Actif Group are still alive, but barely. However, the administrator, Kroll, have told me that 'as the Joint Administrators have not been appointed over Actif Group plc they can not comment on the situation in respect of your shares.'

So what should I do now????? I'm completely confused as to whether or not I have lost all the money, but nobody seems to be able to give me a concrete answer as to what is happening with the original company I bought my shares with (Actif Group PLC)

    HELP!!!!!!

    :rotfl:

Through a sharesave scheme I've accumulated some paper shares in Scottish Power. They are doing rather well at the moment and I would like to sell some. How do I do it? How much can I sell without having to pay capital gains tax? I don't envisage regular dealing, just this once for now.
Some Sharesave FAQs here. You have a CGT exemption of £8,800 for the current tax year.

Trading in the shares was suspended in April; there has been no further announcement. Any further news will be available here.

  • Hi
Ive been using the ShareCrazy site for checking out shares & stuff( not yet signed up to anyone though). I was about to sign up to these when I noticed in the t & c's they were actually Hoodless & Brennan undercover. I also noticed a £60 annual account fee. Does anyone know if this is for share trading accs/isa accs or all?

Are these OK to go with? I thought I saw something earlier on the site about them.

    Thanks

I'm going to shortly have a one off batch of Santander Shares to sell for an elderly friend I have Power of Attorney for (they are currently transfering the shares into her name from her late hubbies) could anyone point me in the direction of the simplest way to do this?? Will we have to open an account with somebody for a one-off sale

    Regards

    Hi
Hope this is the right place so here goes :-)

My mother has shares in 2 utility companies namely BT and Scottish and Southern Energy which she wishes to transfer to me.

I am unsure as to exactly how to go about this - My bank was no help at all as they suggested that my mother should sell them and just give me the proceeds.

Is there a way to transfer shares to another individual ( as a gift ) or should I do as the bank suggests?

    Thanks in advance.

From the IR site easier than writing it

    Q. I want to give someone my shares, what do I do?

    A. You need to get a stock transfer form and fill in your name as "transferor" and their name as "transferee". You should put "gift" or "nil" in the box, which asks how much consideration, was paid.

You will then need to complete the back of the form showing that it is exempt under category L.

Here is a stock transfer form you can down load

    Hi, IanR,

Bear in mind that this is a disposal by your mother for CGT purposes. If the total gains come to more than £8,800 then she may have to pay tax on them.
