Hi guys
I was wondering if anyone knew a reasonably priced place where I could get a d900's screen replaced. The phone is only 3 months old and still under warrantee but when we tried to get CPW to repair it they said that the damage was accidental and not covered. CPW have quoted £45 to replace the screen and to be frankly honest I don't really want to give them a penny more than they have already had out of us.
The other option is to buy a pay and go phone and transfer the SIM. If I remember rightly O2 SIM cards can also be used in Vodaphone and Virgin phones cant they? Can anyone recommend a cheap place for brand new pay and go mobiles? Dont really want to risk buying one off ebay.
Ta muchly

Just to update everyone. I contacted trading standards, as advised by someone on this thread, who advised me to write to Virgin (the store where the phone was purchased) advising them I expect a reply within 3 days. They advised what to write in the letter. The following morning I had a phone call from the manager of the store to say a brand new identical phone would be delivered to my house, by courier, the following morning.
Thank you to everyone, especially KeithP, it was worth it, and he was right, Virgin were liable as the phone was only 2 months old. Trading Standards were great.
Dear Fiona
I am having exactly the same problem (but with Carphone Warehouse). I was wondering if you could let me know roughly what Trading Standards recommended you put in your letter to Virgin to make them listen to you.
Thanks very much
Kind regards

Well I have spent all day too-ing and fro-ing between E2Save, Carphone Warehouse and Samsung. They are all saying that this is a not a common fault (regardless of how many people seem to have the same problems) and that it was caused by accidental damage - which is rubbish as there is no sign of damage to the phone externally at all. OH is very careful with it and it doesnt even have the tiniest scratch anywhere on it - let alone on the screen. The only place there is any damage is on the internal LCD screen.
Spoke to Consumer Direct who think I have a case. S*itty E2Save woman basically said that Consumer Direct speaking b*llocks.
Managed to get Carphone Warehouse to fix it for £30 and I will then try and get my £30 back later. OH needs phone desperately as he is out on the road all the time and our 3 month old has been in and out of hospital a lot recently - this just seems like the easiest way to get a functioning phone again.

Not a common fault? I googled and came across this thread (and many others) with the same problem! I feel a watchdog moment coming on...
My phone did exactly the same thing yesterday. I sent a text, put it in my pocket - got a reply, took it out my pocket and couldnt read the text as the screen had the dreaded crack! Less than 6 months old!
Im going to have to sort this now as waiting for valuable calls on Monday - so will cost me a cheap phone which will work with my O2 sim.
D900i btw. And it IS a common fault...
Going to call marshall ward in a few mins... :mad:Being bored is so boring Im bored of it... :rotfl:0 -
In August i got a Samsung D900 i. The screen has now broken and 02 want £70 to repair it:eek: I can't afford that but now have a big problem. All my numbers were on the phone and I can't see them. I have searched the house for a cable to connect to my pc but can't find one. I don't remember if it even came with one. Can anyone enlighten me also if i do manage to get a cable will i beable to export my numbers using just pc screen,
Thanks for help. cc0 -
Appears to be a common problem on the D900i. Suggests there is an inherent defect and the screen is not tough enough for phone use.
It does come with a cable. You should be able to use Samsung Suite to backup the contacts etc.0 -
£70 for a new Screen is well OTT, especially given you can buy a new D900i on O2 PAYG for £79.99.Cheers

Anybody advise?
Just taken Samsung G600 outta pocket and the display has gone! Has not been dropped or in contact with water and appears that LCD has just gone kerput! Only 6 months into t-mob contract with Phones4U and warranty states 24 months with a few exceptions. No insurance. What do you reckon my chances are when I take it back tomorrow?

Although this thread is about the Samsung 900 have a read of previous posts as it seems to be a problem with the larger screens on Samsungs.0

Hi
I'm now expecting my 4th Samsung U600 to arrive after the previous three developed faults.
Had a brand new phone but it developed a fault on screen so they sent me a Reconditioned replacement handset which was slow and developed a fault on the screen, so they sent me a brand new phone which, suprise suprise has developed a fault with the screen. So they are sending me a reconditioned phone - as a replacement.
Ive not dropped/damaged them in any way.
Has anyone else had faulty U600s?
What do we all know about reconditioned phones?
thanks discountdiva0
