You must have dinner on the New York Bateaux, if there are a paarty of you go do the VIP all inclusive package its a fabulous night out, see all New York skyline at night and sail right up close to Liberty Island.
Done this and i caant rate it high enough
Can highly recommend the helecopter trip along the hudson giving a birdseye view of the city.
Whatever you do, enjoy. It's a great city.Member #7 SKI-ers Club

I've stayed at The Roosevelt Madison Avenue which was ok. The foyer and bar area was impressive, the rooms quite large for New York rooms, but I was a bit disappointed overall with New York, wasn't as nice as Florida and their lovely rooms. The Roosevelt was right near Grand Central Station which was a day out in itself, definetley worth the visit.
I think I paid something like £80 a night for the room, but that was for two adults. Cheaper than a night out in Manchester me says.

You won't get it for £80 a night now. It's been refurbished and the cheapest is about $400 a night for a standard room.Member #7 SKI-ers Club

I stayed at the Pennsylvania a few years ago and the rooms were really dingy. In saying that their location was really good. I work in a travel agent and one of my colleagues went last year and said that part of the hotel has been upgraded as friends of theirs got a really nice room whereas their's was one of the dingy ones. Another colleague has booked up for April this year as she said that for the price it's ideal. At the end of the day you're only sleeping in the room (I guess!) And let's face it, you could spend the extra £75-100 a night shopping in NYC!!Caroline0

Hi
Its my 1st post so please be gentle !!! im going to the big apple at the end of april as a suprise for my hubbys 30th birthday and have seen a deal to the Pennsylvania hotel right in the centre of Manhatten for £420 per couple for 5 days> just wonder what you thought of the price and has anyone been?
Ive looked on trip advisor and the pics look terrible but im trying to convince myself thats its so central (across from macys and next to empire state building) and thats it only to rest our heads!!!!!
Any comment s would be appreciated and thanks in advance0 -

Hi
I have been looking for a cheap but reasonable place to stay and have found the pod for $1560 and the cosmopolitan for $1605
Which one of these two would be the best one to go for?0 -
I can tell you in about 2 weeks whether the Pod is any good. Markymoo has stayed at Cosmopolitan many times and is a big fan0

Hi,
I'm going to New York in April and am after a cheapish 2-3* hotel for 3 nights.
Near the centre would be great but don't really want to go further than Greenwich Village.
My budget is no more than £100 for a twin room. Breakfast would be a bonus.
Any suggestions?0
