  • I stayed at Hotel casblanca just off Times Sq in June, fab hotel Fab location. Good value for money as a breakfast is included as are wine and cheese in the evenings between 5 and 8. Decent wine too.

At the time of year your looking to go you should get a good price
Aim to win in 2013 - a holiday somewhere nice, New York break, treats for family & friends & some cash would be lovely!!!

    Hi,
If 'Markymoo' is back from New York he could be along to help you shortly, as he is the expert and you should read his 'getting about in New York article' its really brill, but I have taken his advice and booked (for December) the Hotel Cosmopolitan. He always stays there and I have to say the reviews on TA are really good. It has loft's, 1 bed (2 persons) & 2 beds (4 person) rooms. I have just costed your request and its approx $1063 for the 1 bed room. Apparently it takes 5 mins (metro) to get into the centre but there is lots to see around there which is walkable - Ground zero, museums, Staten Island ferry etc., and of course just being 'off centre' lots of good eating places, much more reasonable than say Times Square. $24 buys you an unlimited, 7 day Metro/bus ticket which will take you all over New York for 7 days. For the Cosmo log onto www.hotelconxtions.com and see what comes up. You can ring them for 0.5p per minute (see Martins international call checker). Although you have left it late in the day, you will find somewhere, but the cost could be high. Hope you get fixed up. Regards - sally

yeah.. i'm back.. and yeah... what sallysaver said... :). .

my normal service will resume next week.. just got lots of stuff on at the moment, which is taking priority..

i have to say that the service at the Cosmo this time was second to none.. the staff are friendly, if you make time to say hello to them, they'll always say hello back... i had a good conversation with them one afternoon (bought an iphone, needed to change sim card!!).. and i have some good pointers coming up, like which deli is cheapest for the required bottles of water... but i'll post it all in a guide soon..

  • Has anyone been to the Radio City Apartments?

    http://www.radiocityapartments.com

Looks quite reasonable about $140 a night. We are planning a trip next year (Oct 08).

    Cheers
  • Innocentlady, I stayed at the Radio City Apartments last year and they come highly recommended. They are a two minute walk from both Times Square and the Rockerfella Centre and close to two different subway lines.

There is a kitchenette in each room which has a full cooker and oven, microwave, fridge and coffee maker.
  • Hi, I was wondering if anyone has had any experience of the Hotel Newton, on the Upper West Side - we're booked in there for 5 nights in mid-October... (Scary bit is the shared bathrooms, never done that before !!!)

Hi - I'm off to New York at the end of October for 5 nights. I'm a bit confused - I suppose because if I was booking for the UK I'd have an idea of what sort of accommodation I'd be getting for £80 - £100 a night and more of an idea of how 'central' something is - in London for example. So... how much should I be looking to pay for a twin room with en-suite in NY? and in what sort of area?

  • Hi there

I went to New York this April and stayed in a hotel my friend recommended - The Gershwin Hotel here: http://www.gershwinhotel.com/english/site1.html

The location is amazing (literally 5 minutes walk from the Empire State building and a short walk to Madison Square Gardens too).

An economy double for 4 nights including all charges and taxes was $683 which was an excellent rate for somewhere so central. I thought this room would be tiny but actually it was pretty big!

Basically if you don't mind somewhere which is a bit rickety and dated (bathroom definitely could have done with a facelift) but clean and fun then I would highly recommend it.
