It appears to be the same for everyone on the group. My only gripe is that it can take a while for the mods to post to the group.
A mod did request one of my items AFTER it had been posted to the group.
If I received a request without it being posted then they sure as hell would not get it, and I would do as much as possible to get them sorted out (won't use the brass knuckle dusters as they are now antique)
The majority of mods are as you say, but I would bet there are a few rotten apples out there.0 -

I used to love freecycle, but the more i use it the more it annoys me. The concept is brill but as most people say people ask for outragous stuff, there was a post on my local group for a boat!!! I also complained and was told it wasnt outrageous by the mod.
I am at the moment a moderator on freecycle and I am sick of the nasty warnings that they post to members who dont post correctly, sometimes even banning them cause they dont put "offer" or postcode in their post. Their heads are so big because of all the pulicity they forget what its about. I know it takes time to correct peoples posts but surely thats why we volunteer.
I regulary give stuff away and recently i accidently posted a for sale ad, instead of to my local free ads, genuine mistake, and i posted an apology to all as soon as i realised. The reaction from the mods was like i had killed someone.
Anyway wont rattle on anymore as ive given up with my local freecycle and started moderating my own forum on dont dump that

I have just recieved this message from the now ex-freecycle moderator of **************
To all ******* Freecycle members:
When I first joined the Freecycle(R) movement and formed ****** Freecycle group two years ago it was all about helping to keep
items out of landfill by extending the life of objects and giving
unwanted items to total strangers within our community and so giving
mother earth a helping hand along the way whilst helping those who
may be in need of items but could not afford them or even helping
those who simply wanted to save a little money or reduce their
carbon footprint. The vision was to create a community of givers and
so help our local comunity regain the comunity spirit we once had.
The problem for me now is that Freecycle is no longer the movement
i joined and seems to heading in a direction that i find very
distasteful. There are tens of thousands of pounds being spent
fighting legal battles over trademark issues, corporate sponsorship
deals worth thousands and paid staff in upper management on $45,000
per year. I personally didn't "sign up" and willingly give a
considerable amount of my limited free time to give someone else a
better income than I (and most of my members) go out and work hard
for and I certainly did not join to boost the numbers of what
appears to be another potential fundamentalist eco warrior movement.
I disagree with the Freecycle networks latest idea of the
lobbying of UK government as I did not agree with to my membership
or those of my group being used in this manner to create a political
pressure group and with over 3.5 million members quite a big one -
This is just something I feel I can not agree to or support.
I always thought it was run by volunteers
How many hours i have given up for these people:mad:
My decision to leave was a good one then

picnic, have you tried charity shops? There may be one local to you who collect.
Or maybe you could try the bargain pages or similar free ads paper
