What's it all about

The new and book "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" is released on 21 July so I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon (or should that be Hogwarts Express) and tap MoneySavers' knowledge for where to find this book and others cheapest and any other Harry Potter related paraphenalia - which should keep the kids (and some grown ups like me) happy over the Summer

A starter for ten

To get things started Waterstones are offering it for £8.99 plus which is one of the cheapest, plus with it you can bag a free copy of 'Wizardology: A Guide to Wizards of the World' worth around a tenner

Current price on Tesco.com is £8.87 + delivery charge (free delivery if you spend over £20)

They have a price guarantee in place which means you will be charged the lowest advertised price between now and the release date.

It's bargain hunts like this that put small booksellers, and eventually publishers, out of business. Please don't buy books from supermakets! It's good in the short term for your pocket - but when all the independant book shops dissapear and the only books on shelves are mass market dross because that's all publishers can afford to produce - people might start regretting it.

Worth specifying lowest advertised Tesco price not the lowest price advertised by other retailers!

Wait till it comes out as paperback. In half a year or so you will get it everywhere, and the people will start throwing it on ebay and car boot sales.

I've ordered mine from Waterstones online. It's delivered to my door on the day of publication and I get the free wizarding book, which I can use as a gift for one of the small wizards in my family!

  • Red House books are doing an offer which initially is more expensive for the new book £12.99 inc. delivery, but then entitles you to buy the first 6 hardback Harry Potter book collection for £19.99, saving masses overall! Ideal if you don't already own any!

    http://www.redhouse.co.uk/

Alternatively The Book People (sister company of above) have a couple of older titles for around £7 (delivery free if you spend over £25). Ideal if you're missing one!

Unless you are offered freebies, then definitely buy it instore on day of release. Then turn off all telly and radios and computers, as people who have read it overnight will be discussing it.
Last year the prices were £7.99, or 98 even. Which, price-wise is the cheapest. AND you get to buy it at the special midnight openings...

There was an article in this week's Bookseller about HP deals. I recall that WHSmith (online?) seemed like a good deal. I think it was something like £8.99 pre-order, but you get two £5 vouchers to spend on future purchases over £12.

I will try to track down the magazine and provide fuller details.
