Buffets....... not sure why the previous poster thought the Circus Circus buffet was wonderful -I took one look at it and left. I thought the standard of food made it really poor value for money. I suggest he tries the Orleans next time-with the free and frequent shuttle from Bills it is quicker from mid Strip there than it is to CC for a better quality buffet at the same or even lower price.

I like the Palms buffet and Rio is OK for off Strip (free shuttles from the Strip both to the Rio and the Gold Coast right opposite) . Never tried MGM the lines were too long to bother with and I like PH and Paris although often these are comped as I use TR so I don't really look at the price as closely but don't recall them as expensive.

I'm inclined to have a huge lateish breakfast that carries me through to dinner anyway -not for cost reasons as much as that's how I prefer to eat. It's usually my biggest meal of the day. The better buffets work out well for me . (I wouldn't touch Ponderosa with a barge pole either ;) )

I hope no-one here has been effected by the volcano cloud closing all of the airports, unless you are stuck in Vegas of course;)
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Morning All just managed to get the Gatwick Airport Travelodge for £9 in the Autum Sale for the night before our trip believe me its nothing special (we've stopped a few time before) but at £9 it will do! Dates it runs are Aug 28th til Nov 28th. Just thought I would let you know incase anyone else was flying from Gatwick later on in the year :)

stayed there a few times . it is nothing special but it's not a dump either , and the bar menu was actually reasonable value when we last stayed .

for £9 you cannot go wrong .:beer::beer::beer::beer:
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

Not sure anyone could advise, but I have travelled to Vegas 4 times now and obviously love it. I am just back 2 days ago from a 7 night stay, but want to go back at Christmas again, been before at that time and know its expensive. The question is really, the cost always comes out cheaper via expedia, then to book separately as I know most of you do, why is this? We normally stay at the Mirage (I know the resort fee, but it is always comped) and want to again, but the cost for Flight and 7 nights hotel is £1250 for the 2 of us, booked separately is so much more. Should we always book separately and wait for the cheap hotel rooms closer to the time? Cheers

I think it is up to you, if you are happy with £625 each book it, if not wait and see. What is a good deal at the Mirage, (altho you say you get comped?) wouldnt it be about £60 a night x 7 is £420 or £210 each which only leaves £415 for a flight.

    Edit

If you are definite about only staying at one hotel, isnt it best to book when you see a price you are happy with.

I personally wouldnt want to be tied in to staying at one particular hotel and would just look for the best deals

Thats what I always think, but it feels everyone on this forum always book separately. Only get comped for the resort fee, food and beverages, never the room. Cheapest flights I can find are £500.

Love the Mirage too much to move...
