Yes, I suppose but you'd have to breed two lots, and then grow both
male parent one and female parent two
male parent two and female parent one
so you'd not know until next year whether you had the same kumato.
Plus, again being trademarked - they may have done some GMing on it so it might be infertile anyway....have you tried germinating any in kitchen roll?
And, you'd have to either take your chances or isolate each genetic blend from any insects and hand pollinate.0 -

No, I've not tried that. Do I just put some seeds on some wet kitchen roll and leave them somewhere warm / dark?If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

Warm, damp, darkish and wrap in cling film.
I've done some research into these tonight and some people have got good harvests from the seeds; so there's only one way to find out!!!0 -

All 6 Kumato seeds I've planted have come up now. I think that means I saved the seed right. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0

Hey MBE
I too am a real novice everything is being done in containers and I have big ambitions :beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I'm new to growing fruit and veg but have signs of life showing in my 5 windowsill propogators so i shall be keeping an eye on this thread to take advantage of the advice you recieve and also the things you do that work!
May i ask where you purchased your greenhouse from and whether it is plastic covered or glass. I'd like one, but don't want glass for safetly reasons and also the expense of it. Thanks!Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

It's a 6' x 6' Norfolk Greenhouse, and it's plastic, not glass. Reasonably cheap but a devil to put together. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0
