    Ah Katy hugs to you.:grouphug:.
I would say that sounds incredibly sensible advice about the early scans and can completely see where you're coming from on that front. I hope you're back with us soon feeling better. 12 months is no time at all and to have had 2 bfp's in that time is even more promising. Obviously sadly you had the mc's but you need to stay positive and plod on. My friend's sister had 5 or 6 mc's before she had her little boy and now she has him and a little girl too. Stay stromg and I'm sure you'll get there soon!

Hope you dont mind me jumping in and asking a question.

We are planning to TTC in around 3 months - I currently have a mirena coil. When should I start taking folic acid - does this have to be prescribed?

    Thanks in advance
    tt

Ideally about now I think to give it chance to build up in your body. It doesn't need prescribing and you can buy it either on it's own or part of a multi-vit or multi-bitB. You need 400mcg a day

  • Tigtag I am taking Pregnacare Plus, you can get it in any Boots. It has 2 seperate supplements, one a multi vit with folic acid and the other an omega 3 fish oil supplement.

You can start taking them from ttc time to right through breast feeding.

Thank you - how long have you been taking it? Is it expensive?

Thank you - I presume that the medical advice is to take FA when ttc and in early pregnancy?

I started taking it the month I started ttc, so October last year. It isn't cheap, about £13 but you get 4 weeks supply and they cover off all the vitamins you need to keep you nice and healthy.

It definitely is recommended that you start taking FA as early as possible when ttc.

It's recommended that you take FA because it helps the spine develop properly. For myself, I don't think there's a price you can put on health and I take loads of vits to give me all the help I can get. I had my DS when I was 21 (I'm now 33 :o) and even at that young age I was beyond exhausted by the end of it. I have no concept of how I will manage holding down a full time job, looking after said DS and being a decade older! If taking extra vitamins even helps a tiny bit they will be worth it.

    Sorry, bit off topic there!

usually  I think it's abit unreal for him yet (isn't it for all of us!). He's convinced I'm showing already, had to explain it's just mince pies :o. There's 12.5 years between me and my mum's next baby, a bit odd that that gap's come up again
