I have managed to drip candlewax on my new black pinstripe trousers. I haven't tried to get it off yet because I thought someone on here might be able to tell me the best method.

apparantly if you put brown paper on it and then iron the paper that melts the wax which soaks into the paper. I've never tried it but it's just one of those things I've read somewhere and remembered.0

Brown paper and an iron works very well. Make sure that the iron is on the lowest heat setting & that you've switched the steam off.0

Or use kitchen towel instead of brown paper - it helps absorb the wax.
Born to shop;)0 -
I personally use the hairdryer to melt and kitchen towel to absorb...0

Thanks for your tips everybody, I finally got round to trying yesterday. I didn't have any brown paper so used kitchen roll & a cool iron with no steam.
Several scrapings and blottings later I was left with little grease marks so I treated these with neat fairy liquid. I am very happy to say that all the marks except one tiny one are gone.0 -
Hi there.
I reallllllllllllllly hope some one can help me!!! Last night i was sitting in the garden and decided to start fiddling with the candles i had lit. Stupidly i knocked one all over me  :rotfl:
Apart from slightly burning my leg (didnt leave a burn thank goodness!!) I
have completely ruined my favourite skirt
It is a black stretchy skirt with soft-ish material. I quickly popped it in the freezer in a hope that it would go solid and i could peel it off, but it doesnt seem to have worked!!
Please please please have some suggestions!!! I love that skirt, and i need to wear it for a dinner party on friday!!!:starmod: :staradmin :starmod:I gave up jogging for my health when my thighs kept rubbing together and setting fire to my knickers:starmod: :staradmin :starmod:0 -
Oh dear!
You could try covering the wax with brown parcel paper and ironing it. The brown paper should absorb the wax.
Good Luck!Life would be fabulous if I wasn't in debt!0 -
Chip off and remove as much wax as possible first.
Use an old terrycloth towel and lay it down on the wax and underneath it so that the wax is between two clean towels.
Then use an iron on medium heat and place it on the towel. The wax will wick up into the towel. Inspect the towel frequently and keep moving to a fresh part of the towel until the wax is gone.
Pre-treat any dye stain with a laundry pre-treat and launder as normal. Do not dry shirt in the dryer until you are sure that the stain is removed, heat sets stains. Dyes in candles can cause permanent stains, once wax is removed if a stain remains treat as a dye stain.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there.
