Hi maveli, Ok if you are receiving a quarter bill from BT you will receive a total of 4 bills a year. On each of these bills you will have received 3 credits, which equals 12 credits in total.

Therefore you are receiving a credit for each month of the year, regardless of how many days each bill contained you are still gave a credit for each month that you have been billed for. This is the way that all discounts and special offers are applied to customer’s BT bills.

I am sorry for all the confusion that has been caused by this but I can assure you that all your credits have been applied accordingly.

Hope this clears things up for you, if I can help further please PM me!

    Thanks Natasha

maveli, Did you get a refund after they charged the pro-rata days at the full non discounted price?

I would really like to get to the bottom of this and take legal advice but family matters have put a hold on that.

Evening & Weekend plan with paper billing should be £12.50 a month yes?
    Extra 16 days = £6.666666 not £7.97.
Still looking for the discounts they told me that are on this bill...as yet unfound..

Yes I did get a refund of 81p

see below the email I got from. I think this was done by their dept. in India. For some reason the BT reps on this site do not understand this.
    Dear Mr. xxx,

As per the discussion with you, this is to to confirm you that I have removed the incorrect charges of £0.81 p from the latest bill. Now the outstanding amount is reduced to £52.51 including VAT.

The reference number of this adjustment is xxxxxxxx

I do hope that I have been able to answer all your queries. However,if you require any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me via e-mail.

    Thank you for contacting BT.

I'm due a BT bill this week - since my rental period is still not in line with the calls period I'm assuming that I'll get the dreaded "alignment charge" this month - I await with bated breath, particularly the calculations !!!!!

    Photo Stylus,
If you are on the Unlimited Evening and Weekend Plan at no extra charge you will see on your bill the standard charge of £15.45 a month with a credit applied of £2.95 a month to bring your line rental down to £12.50 a month.

Therefore if you are billed quarterly you will see 3 credits on your account regardless of how many days there are in the month or in addition to your 3 months line rental. You receive a total of 4 quarterly bills and 3 credits on each bill so therefore 12 monthly credits in total.

The extra days that were applied to your bill when migrating your account will be charged at the standard rate of £15.45 as you are given a months credit of £2.95 each month regardless of the amount of days in the month. How we work out how much you are charged for the extra days is as follows,

    (£15.45 x 12 / 365 = £0.51 a day) Therefore using your example of 16 days (£0.51 x 16days = £8.16 including VAT)

This is also how we would work out a daily rental rebate if we could not provide you service for a period of time for whatever reason.

Hope this clears things up for you. Thanks

. How we work out how much you are charged for the extra days is as follows,

    (£15.45 x 12 / 365 = £0.51 a day) Therefore using your example of 16 days (£0.51 x 16days = £8.16 including VAT)

I think you are wrong there. I think the way BT calculate is

    (15.45/30) = 0.515/day,

why they do this ? B'cos that is more profitable The calculation you showed will give 0.5079. For a common man the difference doesn't make much difference. But try multiplying both by 16 and you will see a difference of a penny or two and millions of penny make BT a little more richer.

If you think I am wrong then take look at my bill

Now for the discount part, I will try to explain, just imagine that BT decided to increase the billing period to 3 months and 30 days (for time being forget 30 days=1 month), with your calculation no one will get the discount in that quarter for the extra 30 days. You keep saying they will get the discount in next quarter, but that is for the next quarter, not for the extra 30 days charged in this quarter.

So now take a look at the customers who were charged for extra 7 or 16 days. They will never get the discount for that period.

Maveli, I am sorry for the confusion but I will try explaining this in the simplest terms possible. You receive 1 credit per month of £2.95 to bring your rental down to £12.50 a month. There are 12 months in the year, so therefore you are receiving a total of 12 credits. It does not matter how many days are in each month as the credit is not worked out on how many days are in a month it is a set amount of £2.95 each month regardless if there are 28 or 31 days in the month. Thanks Natasha

    Natasha,
The same way there are 12 months in an year, there are only 3 months in a qaurter> But you changed it to 3 months and 7 days and the customer is supposed to get discount for that period as well.

If you can't undestand that then stop mentioning about the discount. You don't advertise that as discount. You advertise it as £11.25/month and extra charges if customer don't pay by direct debit.

And do you mind confirming how you calculate the charge for a day ?

maveli , as advised previously the discount of £2.95 is not calculated in days it is a set amount each month, so therefore over the year you are credited 12 individual monthly credits. This is regardless of the amount of days in any month that you are charged. You can see this at https://www.bt.com/terms under the paragraph Unlimited Evening and Weekend Calls at no extra charge plan.

If you would like me to explain this personally in relation to your account then please PM me your details.

Also the standard rental charge that you are referring to is calculated by the following formula, £15.45 x 12 / 365 = £0.507 (£0.51 a day for your rental plan) and then you are given the standard credit of £2.95 for each month. Thanks Natasha

Also the standard rental charge that you are referring to is calculated by the following formula, £15.45 x 12 / 365 = £0.507 (£0.51 a day for your rental plan) and then you are given the standard credit of £2.95 for each month. Thanks Natasha

Really!! Then could you please explian me why I am charged 3.61 for 7 days ? It should be 0.51 X 7 = 3.57 ??

    now try (15.45/30) X 7

Also if you think the bill was right, why did I get the following email from BT. you don't like to admit your employer made a mistake in the billing ??
