I didnt know where you had all disappeared too but Ive found you now.

I have been poorly but on the "feeling better but not 100% days" Ive been cross stitching snowmen xmas-smiley-010.gif for my mums Christmas present. Also found a FAB Yankee Candle site with bits to use in familys hampers. Felt very Christmassy on Sunday, no idea why?

Back to cathc up on the new thread and looking forward to the little challenge tomorrow.

I had a look yesterday in B&M but couldn't see anything of interest. Probably didn't help that i had OH and bothkids with me.

Never take men + children shopping with u in either B&M or Home Bargains, as children put to much in the trolley (in the case of my daughter its Disney Princess or anything else she fancies), with men... they moan for spending too much money, but come Christmas with all the money you've saved they take the credit!! xx

Good morning ladies - yes its Santas Challenge (apologies for the larger font, but after an evening out...... (very mse had a refund for the 3 main meals, a gorgeous bottle of jacques cider - 75cl size + bottle wine).... need the font.

As I made you all clean freezers I'll be gentle and as always there be Santas challenge, folder ideas, and something else. Those with children (or without), I've tried to keep these challenges simple, but something that may benefit us all

Santas Challenge - Crafting!! original idea from 1970s Blue Peter, but super idea for children to do (with mums help, inexpensive, and great prezzie).

    Need
    1 x Cereal Box
1 x sheet wrapping paper - better darker colours
    sellotape or glue
    + scissors.
    1 x ruler

    1. Cereal box facing towards you measure 10cm up both sides and draw a line across

    2. Turn box around, but this time measure 15cm up both sides and draw line across

    3. on the sides of the box, draw a diagonial line from15cm marker to 15cm - cut the shape out ( got the base of the boot in tact)

    4. On the remaining part of the box, measure out the same size - 2 x side pieces, front and rear pieces, make them slightly smaller than the original measurements (got the 1st piece in tact).

    5. Wrap the 1st piece (the original 10cm front/ 15cm back), in wrapping paper, folding underneath the box, and inside the box, may need to cut slits into paper (preferable use glie)

    6. The spare 4 panels cut, cover them in paper, these go inside the box, so remember the diagonal cut needs to match

    7. Stick these pieces into the inside of the box, the side where the sticking goes - goes on the inside doesnt get seem.

    8. For the base cut 2 pieces slightly wider than the base of the cereal box, cover each piece in the same way, so the pieces with the fold over edges they get stick together

    9. Stick the design box on to the base - lovely letter rack

    10. Can add notebook, pencil, writing pad, envelopes, personalise the front as you want,

Maybe is for grandparents add picture of children, put a bow on it.

For a smaller version (for by telephone) the idea cereal box to use is a Weetabix 12 portion size (narrower), add notebooks, pen, pencils etc.

Ladies that is my one and only crafting item........

    Santas Challenge - Folder
Start that wonderful Christmas card list, and work out how many stamps you will need

    Santas Challenge - Recipies
We all have a favourite recipie, maybe its foolproof, or looks like you have spent hours preparing it,(when u haven't), or that special touch you do to food that sets it apart - doesnt have to be Christmas related, but something that if you saw in a magazine you'd want to rip it out there and then.

    Santas Challenge - Organisation!!
I won't be cruel (promise), but as the freezers was the lovely challenge - following on from that - list a meal plan of items that you can bulk cook and freeze, ideal for the Dec mad rush
Maybe an extra portion of curry, or you want to do a full casserole - you dont have to run out and cook it, just plan some ideas ready.

As were all on different stages with the folders those who are organised, brilliant, you get an easier time, those who are still catching up, you've got chance to work at your own pace.

As usual I put more than one challenge up, so you can pick how many you want to do, and at your own pace.
The next Santas Challenge will be 21st August xx

xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

Loving this, I typed in getting organised for christmas and come up with this list...

    After Christmas Organizing:eek:

The gifts have been opened. Leftovers chill in the fridge. Before you start focusing on the new year, try these tips to organize next Christmas.

    1. Make a list of people who sent you Christmas cards. Add anyone else you'll send cards to next year. (Cross anyone out) Input the list into your computer. Shop for cards at after Christmas sales.

    2. Check your inventory of wrapping supplies. Buy them now at 70% off in most stores.

    3. Make sure you have enough storage containers for all your decorations. Storage supplies go on sale every January.

    4. Open your planner. Start a shopping list for next Christmas. List names. Shop or at least note gift ideas throughout the year.

    5. Establish a budget for next Christmas. Include gifts, cards, postage, shipping costs, gift wrap, special meals, holiday clothing and baking supplies. Set up a savings account and arrange for monthly direct deposit.

    6. Ask family members what were their favorite and least favorite activities this season. Make a note to focus on preferences and eliminate the least-liked next year.

    7. Write Christmas goals in your 2010 planner. For example, July 15th, complete gift list; October 15th, address cards; November 15th, finish shopping; December 8th, reward self with spa day.

OMG I want to get organised for Xmas :rotfl: not after xmas.... Some good tips though, really like number 6.

    "The Santa Clause Rock"

I learned this song at the old North Pole
Taught to me by this merry old soul
It has a beat that really hops
It's called the Santa Clause Rock
It really was such a site to see
2000 elves dancing around a tree
I never saw so many kicking feet
As They Danced the Santa Clause Rock

Then the most shocking thing I know
9 Prancing Reindeer stole the show
And in that room it started to snow
As They Danced the Santa Clause Rock
Then Mrs Claus she stepped in

This is how she stays so fit and trim
With twirling moves and sudden stops
She danced the Santa Clause Rock

Oh pretty girl won't you dance with me
All around the lighted Chistmas Tree
    As we make some history
As we Dance the Santa Clause Rock

Take a quick step to the left
Twirl around and catch your breath
Push your partner to and fro
As you dance the Santa Clause
You dance the Santa Clause Rock
    Rock Rock

Take a quick step to the right
Spin your partner with all your might
Then you make a sudden stop
This is the Santa Clause Rock

Tilt your head back and Ho Ho Ho
As the music soon will stop
    Yet you did make History
Cause you learned the Santa Clause Rock
    (alternate ending)
For you danced the Santa Clause Rock
